Local Track
Trials Dared
For Tuesday
Time trials, the first of the sea
son for the Black Tornado track
squad, will be held next Tues
day and Wednesday afternoon,
Coach Bob Newland announced
this morning.
Field events trials will take
place on Tuesday with all but
possibly the javelin throw be
ing run off, while the running
events are scheduled Wednes
day. The boys as well as Coaches
Newland and Lee Ragsdale will
be watching the times and dis
tances carefully.
Medford lost but three of its
key men by graduation last June
and all three were kingpins in
the local squad that captured the
state championship. However,
Newland believes his track squad
is still strong and most observers
believe the Tornado will be
tough.
Next week's first time trials
of the season are being held sev
eral days earlier than they were
last year. Last season cool damp
weather delayed them some
time.
First track meet for the Tor
nado is a "short distance" meet
with Grants Pass here March 25.
