Hi FQE
Rev. G. 0. Baker
To Leave Medford;
Honored At Dinner
Rev. and Mrs. G. O. Baker,
pastors of the local Assembly of
God church will conclude their
pastoral duties Sunday. It was
five years and six months ago
that Bakers arrived in Medford
to start their work.
They reported they found a
fine group of people that were
willing to work with them,
which made it possible for the
congregation to make a continu
ous growth during their stay
while here.
The church had a fellowship
dinner in honor of the pastors
with the dining room of the
Presbyterian church filled with
friends.
At the conclusion of a musical
program, Clarence Acree, act
ing master of coremonies, ex
pressed in behalf of the assembly
the appreciation for the good
work done by Rev. and Mrs.
Baker.
He presented'the Bakers with
a box with a George Washington
hatchet attached. Box after box
was removed and finally dozens
of pictures of George Washing
ton were found pinned very
carefully to a yellow streamer
that reached across the platform.
Bakers Give Thanks
The evening was closed with
prayer by Sunday School Super
intendent Alfred Bendickson.
Rev and Mrs. Baker have ex
pressed themselves as having en
joyed living in Medford and
wished to thank friends that
have made their stay here a
very pleasant one. Everyone Is
inivted to their farewell services
Sunday at th local Assembly of
God.

Presbyterians To
Lose Rev. Hansen,
Church Work Told
The Rev. Harry Hansen, min
ister of the First Presbyterian
church, will conclude his services
with the Medford congregation
Sunday, it was disclosed today.
He and Mrs. Hansen plan to
leave Medford early next week
to accept the call of the Trinity
Presbyterian church of Santa
Cruz, Cal. Mr. Hansen said he
expects to begin his work there
in mid-March. '
No successor has been named
here.
The Hansens came here seven
and one-half years ago from
Holdredge, Neb. During his
tenVire the Rev. Hansen has serv
ed as president of the Medford
Ministerial association. He has
been a member of the YMCA
board of directors and the Ki
wanis club.
Church records reveal that
during his pastorate, church
membership in the local congre
gation has more than doubled
and today exceeds 700. Attend
ance and enrollment in the Sun
day school has shown a steady
increase until today the enroll
ment of ajmost 600 triples the
recura seven years ago.
Expansion in the denartment
of youth work in the church is
also evident, and a full time
youth director was added to the
church staff several years ago.
The Medford church now
shares in the support of three
foreign missionaries Miss Edna
Menzies, British Africa; Miss
Marguerita Sandilands, India;
and the Rev. and Mrs. Dick
Cochran, Iraq showing growth
of missionary interest in finan
cial support of the missionary
program.
Debt Cleared
Several years ago the congre
gation cleared the church build
ing of all indebtedness. During
that time an amount almost
equivalent to the debt was ex
pended on improvements and
equipment. A church manse and
lot, also free of debt, has been
added to the church property.
In addition, a greatly increased
annual budget indicate the fi
nancial progress. Of particulai
interest to the church is the ad
vance in benevolence giving
from $500 to more than $6,000
annually.
