Shady Cove-Trail, Feb. 18
The Valley Talent show held at
the sehooihouse February 8 for
benefit of the March of Dimes
was very successful, netting
$43.28 in ticket sales and dona
tions. Mrs. Marie Larson of Elk
Creek, Trail, is now home from
the hospital and said to be pro
crressine as well as can be ex
pected. Dolph Larson has been
staying with Mr. and Mrs, Bob
Vincent of Shady Cove during
his mother's illness.
Sympathy of the community
is extended to Mrs. Ruth San
ford and family in the passing of
Harry Sanford, hurband and
father, on February 10.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Abernethy
and family of Shady Cove have
returned from an extended trip
into ArizonR. They purchased the
old Dean Weitman residence on
the county road.
The Segessenman mill at Sha
dy Cove has been unable to run
a good deal of the time lately
because of road load limits.
G. E, Hubbell of Sunset on
the Rogue, Trail, has Just re
turned home from Sacred Heart
hospital and is reported to be
convalescing nicely.

V. F. W.. and Ladies' Auxiliary
was held February 15 at Rogue
River lodge. District commana
er Jack Stewart and Mrs. Min
na Stewart of Medford made an
official visit to the post and
auxiliary. Next regular meet
ing will be Wednesday, March 1,
at 8 n. m.. at Rogue River lodge.
Nominations for officers for the
coming year and election both
for post and auxiliary will take
place at the next two meetings
and all the auxiliary voted to
sponsor the Cub scouts of Shady
Cove. Members are urged to turn
out for these two meetings.
Girl scout troop of Shady Cove
intermediate group held a mother-daughter
tea the afternoon of
February 10 at the sehooihouse.
A patriotic play was presented
by the group and Miss Emily
Earl gave a piano selection. Mrs
Cecil Kee is leader with Mrs
Lela Strowbrldae assistant.
Shady Cove P. T. A. extends
a cordial invitation to all in ad
joining communities who might
be interested in the P. T. A. pro
gram to be held Friday evening,
February 17, at the sehooihouse.
Speaker of the evening will be
John Richard, county juvenile
officer.
Mrs. Ida Steele of Cottage
Grove U visiting her grand
daughter, Mrs. Beth Partney of
Shady Cove, for a few days.
Mrs. S. E. Brill of Trail suf
fered an attack of the flu last
week but is reported to be much
improved.
Regular monthly meeting of
Upper Rogue Extension unit will
be held Tuesday, February 21,
starting at 10 a. m., at the home
of Mrs. G. E. Hubbell, Sunset
on the Rogue, Trail. The pub
Ject is to be "Glove Making." A
number of the women interested
in this project held an informal
meeting February 8 at the home
of Mrs. Lola Bartuss, chairman.
Mrs. Eva Segessenman of Sha
dy Cove attended a luncheon
meeting of the Red Cross execu
ting staff February 9 In the Pio
neer room of the Jackson hotel.
Final plans were discussed for
the annual Red Cross drive to be
held during March.
Mrs. John Stllle of Shady
Cove, who underwent an opera
tion at the Community hospital
February 9, is now at home and
progressing nicely.
Mrs. Eleanor Sawyer and
Mrs. Scottie Patrick of Trail at
tended the regular meeting of
the Military Order of Cooties and
Ladybugs held February 14 at
the Veterans' hall in Medford.
Registration for voting is now
open and anyone desiring to do
so may register for precincts 24
and 25, Trail and Shady Cove,
with the registrar, Mrs. Evalyn
Watson, at the Treasure Trove In
Shady Cove. There Is no charge
for registration. Those register
ing should know the section.

two weeks.
Tom Hall, brother of Mrs.
Charles Braughton of Shady
Cove, is visiting a brother in
Medford.
Scotty McCleve, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Winston McCleve of
Trail, has just gone back to
school after an absence of about
two week. He suffered an attack

Reese Creek, Feb. 18 Mr.
and Mrs. Elbert Hcfley and
daughter have returned home
from a recent trip to Long
Beach, Cal., where they visited
friends and Mr. Hefley's par
ents. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer of Days
creek are guests here of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Wood.
At the recent election of offi
cers of Reese Creek Sunday
school, Mrs. Earl Wood resigned
as secretary and Mrs. Hatcher
was elected in her place. Neigh
bors and friends gave a surprise
party for Mrs. Wood and pre
sented her with a lovely wool
blanket in appreciation of her
services at the Sunday school.
Mrs. Smith has returned home
from 1he hospital with her 10-
lb. baby boy.
The Cecil Young family has
sold their ranch to Dale and Do
lan Young of Yorbalinda, Cal.
They have built a grade A dairy
barn on the place and plan to
occupy the place in April.
The Rev. and Mrs. Mendel
Collins and son Dwight of Whit
tier, Cal., were recent visitors
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.
Collins.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tildon
of Los Angeles were also recent
guests at the Collins home. They
were on their honeymoon.
Deen Collins has finished his
first semester at Fullerlon J.C.
and was home with his parents
for a week. He has returned to
commence his second semester.
Wallace Prior from Guam,
who is in the merchant marines,
visited his mother Mrs. L. A.
Johnson a few days and has re
turned to San Francisco where
he will enter the hospital.

held a meeting at the home of
Mrs. Clyde Williams February 7.
A nice crowd was present. Next
meeting will be held at Marga
ret Gardener's home, March 7.
