children at the school.
It was found that only three
of 173 youngsters who sucked
thumbs or fingers showed no ill
effects.
The occlusion of teeth and jaws
may be effected by thumb suck
ing, he said, although there is
still no definite finding to prove
it.
It was found that in many in
stances children sucked their
thumbs only when falling asleep.
The cause, he said, may be due to
fear of being alone in the dark
ness. "Sometimes the habit can be
cured by the simple expedient
of leaving a dim light in the
child's room at night," Teuseher
said.

discovered a prehistoric skutt
which links the human race with
that of the apes.
Dart, who is dean of the fac

to Brisbane for the first time
since he left, in 1918, as a cap
tain to the Australian army med
ical corps.
Dart claimed that he also was
the discoverer, in 1924, of the
famous Taungs and Makapans

yeast and water. Let stand until light and fluffy.

together until crumbly. Beit eees well
Add milk, scalded and cooled, extracts and yeast mixture. Stir this into flour mixture
until smooth. It will be a VERY SOFT DOUGH. Do not knead.
Dip clean flour sack in water. Wring dry. Lay it flat on table. Dust with flour. Put dough
in center; bring corners of sack up and tie loosely. Leave room for dough to expand.
Fill a container with about 3 quarts of lukewarm water. Drop dough in carefully. Set
aide to rise. It will float when ready. Lift dough out of water. Turn it into bowl In
another bowl, have ?4 cup sugar and 2 T. cinnamon well mixed. Take dough about
size of an egg and press it tlat in sugar mixture. Twist dough
once or twice to make a roll, weiner size. Shape into horseshoe
and lay carefully in well-bunered pan about 1 inch apart. This
will make 25 rolls. Sprinkle remaining sugar over tops. Set
aside in warm place to rise, about 1 hour, or until double in
size. Bake at 50 for 30 minutes or until nicely browned.
These Hungarian Rolls, or Kipfel, should have a crisp,
sugary glazed crust when baked. You'll like them! Be

by cord and Providence, protest
ed that it had only a "few
things" wrong with it.
The Judge still thought the
fine was reasonable when he
read aloud a description of the
car, which said:
"The bonnet was tied with
cord; there was neither hand
brake nor foot-brake; the steer
ing wheel turned almost fully
around before it acted on the
wheels; the rear mudguard was
held in place by a rope; the off
side driving door was a fixture
with no handle, and entry had
to be made through the nearside
door; the right window was
fixed so that a hand signal could
not be given; the horn would not
blow, and the front mud guards
were loose.'

tribute heat evenly, the chances
arc the trouble can be traced to
the location of the thermostat.
E. A. Olson, of the University
of Nebraska, said that uncom
fortable, chilly feeling around
the house often indicates un
even, rather than too little, heat.
Place the thermostat on an in
side wall, where an even temper
ature can be maintained, he ad
vised. Other rooms will not be
comfortable If the regulator it
self is varmed by sunlight, a
fireplace fire, or warm air from
a register or radiator, or cooled
by drafts from stairways or
doors.
If there are small children in
the house, the thermostat should
be placed about two feet above
the floor to insure a comfortable
temperature for them, Olson
said.
