Marriage Service
Held In Nevada
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ashpole,
who were married in Reno, Nev.,
December 22, are now making
their home in Medford. The
bride is the former Rosemary
Jordan, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Whiteman of
Prineville, Ore., and the bride
groom's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Ashpole, Eagle Point.
The service was read by the
Rev. E. S. Barnett of the First
Baptist church in Reno, and the
couple was attended by Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Lang, formerly of
Eagle Point and now of Nevada.
The bride wore a burgundy
colored suit with pink accesso
ries and a corsage of pink rose
buds for the service.
Mr. Ashpole is a past com
mander of Steelhead post, Veter-'
ans of Foreign Wars in Shady
Cove, is a member of the Shady
Cove Rotary club and is also af
filiated with the Elks and Eagles
lodges and the American Legion.
He is in business with his fa
ther in Eagle Point and the cou
ple plans to build a home there.
Mrs. Ashpole is on the staff of
Littrell Parts company, Med
ford. The newlyweds were honored
at a party held January 7 at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Tresham in Eagle Point.

Polio Benefit Dance
To Be Held At Club
Considerable interest is being
shown in the March of Dimes
benefit dance which is being
planned for Monday, January
30, at the Rogue Valley Country
club.
It is stated that all proceeds
from the event will go to the
drive. The club management is
donating the facilities of the
club, and the club staff will do
nate their services for the eve
ning, it is announced, in order
that there will be no expense in
curred. The dance will be informal
and in addition there will be
games and prizes. Supper will
be served.
Mrs. G. A. Dierdorff is chair
man of the dance, which is to
be for members and out-of-town
guests.
Woman's Relief Corps
To Meet Thursday
Women's Relief corps will
meet Thursday at 2 p. m. at the
home of Mrs. Belle Littrell, 115
Newtown street. The session
was postponed from last week
due to weather conditions.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald AihpoU, married in December, are now
living in Medford. The bride is the former Rosemary Jordan and
Mr. Aihpole is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ashpole, Eagle Point.
He is engaged In business with his father there.

Chapter Gives Dinner
In Jacksonville Hall
Honoring Warren Lodge
Jacksonville Members of
Adarel chapter OES honored
members of the Warren Masonic
lodge Thursday evening in the
chapter rooms of the Masonic
hall in Jacksonville. A covered
dish dinner was served and
Menno Bachmann, worthy pat
ron, acted as master of cere
monies. Since the two chapters are at
present remodeling rooms of the
hall, table decorations were in
dicative of their project. The
table centerpiece was a wooden
cart pulled by two dolls, a girl
doll depicting Adarel and a boy
doll, Warren. The cart carried
paint, nails and building blocks
and bore placards announcing
the theme.
Guests honored were Grant
Todd, budget committee of the
grand chapter; Henry Halvarsen,
worshipful master, Warren lodge
and Wallace Brill, worshipful
master, Medford AF & AM lodge,
and associate patron of Adarel
OES. Many out-of-town guests
attended the affair.
Adarel members will hold
men's night and initiation, Feb
ruary 2 and all OES members
are invited.

Birthday Dinner Held

Last Sunday Afternoon
Loyal Workers of the First
Christian church celebrated their
birthdays with a dinner Sunday,
January 15, in the dining room
of the church.
The dining tables were decor
ated with ropes of ivy and a cen
ter piece of pink carnations and
white tapers. Presiding at the
cutting of the birthday cakes
were Mrs. Frank Heller and
Mrs. Arnold Bohnert.
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Olson were
given the bouquet for being
members of the class for the
longest time.
The birthday offering taken is
to be presented to the living link
missionary of the church, now
serving in the Congo, Mrs. Delia
Mae Paget, daughter of Mr. and

Married In Paris
Jacksonville Mrs. Helen
Armpriest has announced the
marriage of her daughter, Miss
Margo Kerr, to Beryl D. Steuart,
Stevcnsville, Mont., which took
place in Paris, France, December
30. Mr. Steuart's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. S. C. Steuart, Stevcns
ville. The couple had met at the Uni
versity of Oregon when both
were literature students there.
Miss Kerr went to Paris about
six months ago and has been
employed by the economic co
operation administration in the
European headquarters of the
Marshall plan, located in the his
toric Hotel Talleyrand.
Mr. Steuart had been in Purls
since September, 1S48, working
for his doctor's degree in French
literature at the Sorbonne uni
versity in Paris.
Following a week's trip to
Lake Geneva, Switzerland, the
couple is at home in Paris, where
they expect to live for the next
two years.
Upper Rogue Unit Hears
Program On Seasonings
Shady Cove Upper Rogue Ex
tension unit met Tuesday at the
home of Mrs. Cecil Kee of Sha
dy Cove, with 11 members brav
ing the inclement weather to at
tend. The meeting opened with
singing, and members answered
roll call by describing some ac
tivity of the past week which
was outside their usual routine.
It was voted to work with the
VFW auxiliary in holding a food
sale for the benefit of the March
of Dimes drive, the date and
place of the sale to be announced
later. It was also decided to can
cel the better dress workshop
for this unit because of the bad
weather and illness among mem
bers who had planned to attend.
An interesting lesson on
"Herbs and Seasonings" was
given by Mrs. Lois Hicks and
Mrs. Leona Hughes. The lunch
eon was prepared by them, dem
onstrating the uses of various
herbs and spices in the prepara
tion of everyday foods.

will be held at the home of Mrs.
G. A. Hubbell of Trail.

to attend a conference here this
evening at St. Mark's church.

church at 5:30 p. m., with a
business meeting to be conduct
ed during the dinner. A church
service is scheduled for 7:30 p. m.
and this will be followed by a
social hour and refreshments,
