New York, Feb. 23 (U.R) A
claim of illness by Sal Bartolo
caused cancellation today of next
Friday night's featherweight "ti

Pep, despite the statement of a
New York boxing commission
physician that he could find
nothing wrong with Bartolo.
Bartolo, who is recognized as
the National Boxing Association
champion, will be asked to ap

A substitute bout of 10 rounds
was arranged in place of the 15-

mained in bed Thursday and Fri
day after taking penicillin treat
ments. When Dr. William Walker ad
vised that he saw no evidence
of anything wrong with the
champion, Bartolo replied that
the tretament and his confine
ment in bed had weakened him.
