land, Sunday. Ross was honor
ably discharged from the navy
at Shoemaker, Calif., after three
years service, 22 months of
which were spent In the Asiatic
Pacific theater and Alaska. He
served as a member of an arm
ed guard on a merchant ship.
Clifford E. Ross was second
of the three sons to return home
when he was discharged early
In Tonnuru at Ft. Lewis. Wash.,
after five years, three months
with the army Infantry and
coast artillery. A private first
class, he spent seven months In
the Asiatic-Pacific theater. Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford Ross are re
siding at the home of hla par
ents at present.
First of the sons to be hon
orably discharged from the ser
vice was Charles Irvln Ross,
former motor machinist's mate,
second class, who was released
In Kcntpmber at Boston, Mass.
Th fnrmpr nawman. who is
residing with his wife at their
home at 010 Beach street in
Ashland, served 21 months In
the Pacific, stationed at a P. T.
base.
A fourth son who served In
the armed forces, Pfc. Dale
Ross, was lost In action on
Guadalcanal.

week ending Feb. IS. This, how
ever, represents a decline from
the previous week when almost
100 cases were listed.
Thirty-seven of the 80 cases
were reported from Medford
and 14 from Gold Hill. Lone
Pine district reported 8, Evans
Valley four and Griffin Creek,
Central Point and Phoenix each
listed one case. Camp White re
ported three cases.
Chlckcnpox was next on the
list in points of numbers, with
a total of IT cases reported.

ance In Medford Monday, Feb.

Miss Markova and Mr. Dolin
headed their own company once
before, touring their native
Great Britain. For the past five
years they have been appearing
as prima ballerina and premiere
danseur of the Ballet Theater
of New York, and during the
past season danced in the gigan
tic Billy Rose musical, "The
Seven Lively Arts."
The present tour is being made
under the direction of the ballet
impresario, S. Hurok.

grow to the length of 39 feet.
