lutcly harmless In any circum
stance. You can't tell whether
it will answer your require
ment until you try it for a week
or two. I suggest thot you take
the daily teaspoonful or tables
poonful for four to six weeks
After that, I venture to say, you
will not need it. I cannot recom
mend the use of ground flax
seed (meal) only the unground
whole flaxseed.
Every well regulated house
hold in America should have a
supply of plain wheat on hand
and every member of the fam
ily should chew some or eat
some in one form or another
every day. This regardless of
whether one has the physic
habit. Especially advisable for
one who wishes to break the
physic habit is a good daily ra
tion of plain wheat (washed if
you wish) taken in the whole
raw state or cracked in a mill
and taken as a cereal, cooked
as you prefer, or ground to
meal . and incorporated in re
cipes calling for flour, in place
of one-third or one-half of the
white flour.
Bananas for babies. Particu
larly for babies five months old
or older who suffer from mm
nultion, constipation, failure to
gain weight; and babies and old
er children who have so-called
chronic Intestinal indigestion,
celiac disease. In any such case
it is always perfectly safe to be
gin feeding the infant only a
teaspoonful or two of ripe
sweet, soft banana dally at first
and Increase the daily ration a
teaspoonful or two every few
days, until the baby six or seven
months old takes one-half of a
banana a day, or the child a
year old takes one or two bana
nas a day. Of course banana?
are excellent food for every
body, particularly people who
are at all Inclined to be costive
or have deranged colon (wrong
ly called mucous colitis, more
correctly called spastic colon or
spastic constipation).
This applies only to well rip
ened banara. A banana is well
ripened when the peel is all yel
low, flecked over with brown
lsh spots, not the black marks
