Brings Surprise To Men Of Baseball

Baseball men seemed mite sur
prised today that Manager Ed
die Dyer of the St. Louis Car
dinals named 34-year-old Terry
Moore as team captain which
must surprise both Dyer and
Moore.
For the plain fact of the mat
ter is that Dyer has believed as
gospel all along that Moore
would be his outfield pivot man
when the Cards go out In April
to start winning back that Na
tional league flag from the Chi
cago Cubs.
Dyer made no bones about
this during the recent major
league meetings when he was

tention is Pasquel's north-of-the-border
raids on the New York
Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers
which has netted four unhappy
Latins in the past 24 hours.

school this season when they
were tripped 46 to 40 by the
Salem Vikings here last night.
Bob Watson found the hoop
for 12 markers to lead Medford
while Fitzpatrick and Bellinger
each counted 13 for Salem. Dar
rell Riggs and Bill Singler left
the game for Medford via the
personal foul, route.
Medford had won an earlier
game on their home floor by a
43-39 count. The two teams
