The American Road Builders'
association is the oldest and larg
est organization devoted to the
planning, development and con
struction of roads and highways.
It was organized in 1902. The
associationo has been instru
mental In securing ijderal aid
for highways, and during the
last session of congress, obtained
passage of a bill granting finan
cial assistance to county roads
and highways.
The County Highway Offi
cials' division is on of the largest
and most active divisions of the
association. It represents more
than 3,000 counties in the 48
states. The election of Rynning
to the office of president reflects
not only recognition to him but
also to Jackson County.
Chris P. Fauerso of Wasco
county succeeds Mr. Rynning as
vice president of the Western
district. F. L. Phipps, executive
secretary of the Association of
Oregon Counties was elected one
of the directors. In addition to
electing officers to the County
Highway Officials division, Ore
gon was further recognized by
R. H. Baldock, state highway
engineer, being elected' one of
the directors of the association.

AT ANNUAL MEET
A group of over 150 members
and friends of the First Chris
tian church gathered in Fellow
ship Hall Wednesday night for
the Annual Meeting of the
church.
Ben Schmidt, executive of
the Y. M. C. A., urged the
Christian people to give their
best to the youth of Medford.
Ralph Cook, chairman of the
board for-1945, was presented
by Robert Church, chairman of
the Fellowship Dinner commit
tee'. Mr. Cook pointed out some
of the achievements of the
church from the printed annual
reports. These reports show
that forty-six new members
were "received; total income of
the church from all sources was
$17,132.52; the Bible School at
tendance had increased 25 per
cent ner Sunday over that of
1944; and the total giving for
missionary work was $2,699.94
The following officers were
elected to fill vacancies for
