Mrs. Cooper has a gift and
novelty shop in the Cowley
building which the Coopers sold
to John Cupp about one month

Billings 'Agency
In Ashland Sold;
Oldest in State
S. C. Jones and Sons of Med
ford today took over the man
agement of the Billings Insur
ance Agency in Ashland, said to
be the oldest insurance agency
in Oregon. The business, estab
lished in 1883 by the late G. F.
Billings, was purchased several
weeks ago by Mr. Jones and his
two sons, Stanley Jones, Jr., now
a junior grade lieutenant in the
navy, and Kenneth H. Jones,
flight officer in the army air
corps, from G. H. Billings.
It is stated that Lt. Jones, who
expects to be released from the
navy in the spring, will be in
charge of the Jones Agency in
Medford while the younger son
will enroll at the Southern Ore
gon College of Education when
released from the army and ill
devote his spare time to the
agency.
Jones was on the staff of the
California-Oregon Power com
pany here for 28 years bfore
going into the insurance busi
ness. About the middle of the
month Mr. and Mrs. Jones will
take up residence in Ashland at
142 Church street, the Billings'
home, while Mr. and Mrs. Bill
ings plan to leave for a vacation
trip south
