New Year Party;
Plan Installation
Adarel chapter No. 3, O.E.S.,
will hold a "watch party" on
New Year's eve in the Masonic
hall In Jacksonville.
After the regular meeting of
the chapter Thursday evening,
officers will be installed for the
ensuing year. Elective officers
are Mrs. Mabel Todd, worthy
matron: James Matthews, wor
thy patron; Mrs. Libbie Root,
associate matron: Earl Brewold,
associate patron: Mrs. Lucille
Brill, secretary; Mrs. Katherine
Peterson, treasurer: Mrs. Vera
Thomas, conductress; Mrs. La
Vesta Gardner, associate con
ductress. Members of the order and
friends are invited to attend the
installation.

Sanders Visit Here
While En Route South
Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sanders
and their two sons, Phillip and
Steven, were in Medford briefly
Saturday while en route to
Mexico City where they will
spend a vacation of two months.
They visited here with Mrs.
Sanders' mother, Mrs. Stella
Mae Hendrickson, Girls' Com
munity club. The Sanders form
erly resided here.

Married Wednesday
Medford's Chapel of the Rocks
and Roses was the scene Wednes
day, Dec. 25, of the wedding of
Miss Hazel Elaine Smith, daught
er of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M.
Smith, 143 Kenwood avenue, to
Sgt. Howard Martin Spalding,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin H.
Spalding. Goldendale. Wash.
For the candlelight service,
performed at 3 o'clock in the
afternoon by the Rev. D. E.
Millard, the bride wore a white
satin gown with long train and
full length veil. She carried a
bouquet of gardenias and narcis
sus and wore a pearl necklace.
Mr. Smith gave his daughter in
marriage.
Miss Betty Jean-: Smith,
maid-of-honor for her sister,
wore a yellow and black gown
and carried a bouquet of laven
der and white chrysanthemums.
Little Elvira Dee Greenwood,
flower girl, also carried lavender
and white chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Millard was at the piano
for the wedding march and the
Rev. and Mrs. Millard also sang
preceding the reading of the
vows.
A reception and dinner were
held at the home of the bride's
parents.
Sgt. and Mrs. Spalding will
reside in Spokane, the groom
being stationed there with the
army air corps. He is a veteran
of eight months' service in the
China and India theaters of war.
Party Is Given

residence-studio of Mrs. Bebb on

Wolf, a former pupil of Mrs.
Bebb and now stationed at
Camp White Naval hospital, who
entertained with a group of in
spiring piano numbers.
Firm Employees
Have Yule Party
At Local Hotel
Among the Christmas parties
given during recent days was
that held by employees of Lit-
trell Parts company at the Med
ford Hotel. The group enjoyed
dancing. Magician Johnnie Eads
presented a program and a buf
fet lunch was served at eleven
o'clock in the evening.
Employees of the company
presented a gift to Al Littrell,
head of the firm, the presenta
tion being made by Frank
George, who also presented a
gift to Chal Strang, buyer for
the company. Strang is the
firm's oldest employee, having
been with Littrells for 14 years,
Seventy people, including em
ployees from Yreka and Grants
Pass, were present for the en
joyable affair.
Shower Is Given
For Mrs. Young
Mrs. Harvie Young was hon
ored at a shower given at her
home, 7 Rose avenue, Friday
afternoon by a group of friends.
Refreshments were served after
Mrs. Young had been presented
with a number of gifts.

Wed At Chapel
Among last week's weddings
was that of Mabel Borland, 918
North Central avenue, to Everett
Eugene Baugh, also of Medford.
The marriage took place Mon
day afternoon at the Chapel of
the Rocks and Roses, with the
Rev. D. E. Millard performing
the ceremony.
For the service, witnessed by
a small group of relatives and
friends, the bride wore a pink
gown.
Mr. and Mrs. Baugh will make
their home here, the groom be
ing employed at Camp White.
Mrs. Baugh has resided here a
number of years.

Eve at a dance, the affair to be
in St. Mark's Episcopal church
guild hall. Mrs. Lewis Robin

Family In Portland
Mr. and Mrs. Don Newbury
and children, Kenneth and Nan
cy, 7 Eastwood Drive, returned
to Medford Wednesday after
spending Christmas in Portland
with Mrs. Newbury's family.
A family reunion was held, with
two of Mrs. Newbury's brothers,
recently home from overseas,
present. They are Capt. William
A. Delzell, Jr., who served with
the combat engineers in Europe,
and Charles Delzell, who served
at Bari, Italy, with an army in
telligence unit. Both were over
seas for almost three years.
Miss Newbury, student at
Annie Wright seminary in Ta
coma, will remain in Medford
for this week, returning to Ta
coma in time to resume her
studies January 6.
Study Club Holds
December Meeting
"A Fresh Slant on Home
Work" was the topic discussed
at the December meeting of the
Parents Study club held at the
home of Mrs. Sam Wade, 711
Sherman street. After the regu
lar business meeting refresh
ments were served and guests
found gifts under the Christmas
tree. Hostesses for the evening
were Mrs. J. J. Finnigan and
Mrs. J. R. Smith.
The club's next meeting will
be Monday, Jan. 7 at the home
of Mrs. J. L. Minton, IS North
Barneburg Road.
