night from Treasure Island,
Calif., to ipend a brief leave at
th home of his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. C. Tucker, 315
North Holly street.

Mrs. Eugene K. Peterson of
Roseburg spent Friday evening
in Medford at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. M. W. Taylor, 53
North Peach street. The Peter
sons were en route to Los An
geles where they are to spend
the holidays at the home of Mr.
Peterson's parents.
In Hospital Mrs. W. C.
Janes, Capital avenue, is in
Sacred Heart hospital recover
ing from major surgery. It is
stated that she will be able to
receive visitors within three or
four days. Mrs. Janes' son-in-law,
Pvt. Clyde Gilbert, arrived
in the city last week to spend
the holidays with Mrs. Gilbert
and his family. He has been
stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Va., in
recent months but is currently
stationed at Ft. Lewis.

day the loss of a black leather
purse with the initials P. M. O.
on it. Police were told the purse
was lost on Willamette street
when it fell from an open car
door.

Meeting Cancelled Knights
of Pythias lodge will not meet
Monday evening, due to the fact
that it will be Christmas eve,
officers announce. The follow
ing Monday evening, Dec. 31,
' the lodge will hold a potluck
supper at 6:30 o'clock for
Knights, Pythian Sisters and
their families.

Cars Collide Damage esti
mated at $250 was caused a car
operated by Jack Robertson,
1205 East Main street, Friday
afternoon in a collision at the
Stewart and South Riverside
avenues intersection with a car
driven by James F. Sprague,
Seattle, according to an accident
report filed with city police.
Olher accident reports stated
that slight damage was caused
Friday to a car driven by Charles
L. Rusho, 225H South Riverside
avenue, and a Beck's bakery
truck, operated by G. W. Reich
stein, 310 Portland avenue, when
they collided at the intersection
of North Riverside avenue, and
Ohio streets.

Return Mrs. Duane Fitzger
ald and son, Michael, returned
to the city last week from Salt
Lake City, Utah, and are resid
ing with her mother, Mrs. P. C.
Latham, 822 South Oakdale
avenue. M r s. Fitzgerald has
been making her home in Utah
to be near her husband, an army
captain stationed in Salt Lake
City. Capt. Fitzgerald is to be
sent overseas in the near future.
Also returning to the home of
her mother to spend the Christ
mas holidays was Miss Betty
Latham, who has been training
as a cadet nurse at Providence
hospital in Portland. Miss La
them, who has completed stud
ies at the hospital, will report
back in two weeks for reassign

Davis Home Staff Sgt. Reu
ben O. Davis, box 463; Jackson
ville, was honorably discharged
from the army Monday at Camp
Beale, Calif., according to a
news release from the camp.
Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delia
Davis, of Jacksonville, spent
three years in the service, two
years having been served over
seas with the 37th division. He
was awarded the good conduct
medal, victory medal, Asiatic
Pacific ribbon with one battle
star, Philippine liberation ribbon
with one battle star, combat In
fantry badge and the American
theater ribbon.

Rood, who will be honorably
discharged from the service in
the spring, returned to the
United States recently after 21
months service as a psychiatrist
with an evacuation hospital of

spent three and one-half years
