    INSPECTOR LAUDS
LOCAL GUARD UNIT
Company A, local rifle unit
of the Oregon state guard, was
inspected last evening by Capt.
Frederick A. Sullivan, detailed
from the war department to be
Inspector and instructor of the
Oregon state guard.
Capt. Sullivan complemented
Capt. Oscar E. Sabin, command
ing Company A, upon the high
morale shown by the company,
and stated that while many of
the men of the company were
but youngsters, the community
should be proud of them, and
appreciative of the soldierly con
duct and military efficiency
shown during his inspection
which, he said, was reflective
of the general worth of the local
unit.
Company A will assemble for
special drill Sunday, Dec. 16,
and again Tuesday evening, Dec.
18, for military ceremonies at
tendant upon presentation of
war service ribbons to officers
and men of the command, ac
cording to Capt. Sabin.
St. Mary's Beats
Klamath Quintet
St. Mary's Wildcats downed a
fighting team from Sacred Heart
of Klamath Falls by a score of
39 to 26 in their annual basket
ball game here last night.
St. Mary's has yet to bow to
their Klamath foes in the many
years of play.
St. Mary's got off to a slow
start but took command of the
"Me...
the Army!
THERE ARE PLENTY
OF REASONS...
AND HERE THEY ARE!"
1 "First, I keep my present grade. That
means a lot
.2 "By reenlisting for 3 years I can pick
my own branch of service in the Air,
Ground or Service Forces, and if I desire
I can select any of the overseas theaters.
3 "I get $50 a year reenlistment bonus
for each year I've been in the Army. I get
my mustering-out pay, too. My dependents
receive family allowances for the full term
of my enlistment. And I'll be eligible for
CI Bill of Rights benefits when I get out
of the Army.
4 "My food, clothes, quarters, medical
and dental care are all supplied to me. And
I can learn any of 200 skills or trades in the
Army schools.
5 "All of us who are reenlistir- going
to have from 30 to 90 days' ' ugh at
home with full pay and our c-l paid
both ways. And we'll have 30 days' fur
lough every year with pay.
6 "Any time after 20 years I can retire at
half pay increasing year by year to three
quarters retirement pay after 30 years of
service. And the time I've already served
in active military or naval service counts
toward my retirement time. Added up
reenlistment looks good to me!"

YOU can help bring back the soap you need so badly
: : 1 just by keeping up the good habit of saving used
fats. Supplies of industrial fats are far short of what's
needed to make enough soap and other peacetime
goods. So if you fait to turn in used fats, supplies
will go lower still and soap shortages may get
even worse than they are now! Keep saving! Turn
used fats in promptly and collect 4ji a pound.
