Washington, Dec. 8 (U.R)
Ceiling prices on white potatoes
will remain suspended for the
period Dec. 6-March 6, the of
fice of price administration an
nounced today.
Ceiling prices on these pota
toes were first suspended on
Sept. 14 because potatoes were
then selling below ceilings and

harvested. OPA said that pota
toes have continued to sell be
low pre-existing price ceilings
and that the crop has turned out
to be the second largest in history.

made. Merchants are requested
to be careful In cashing checks

We're cutting down our
waiting list... every day
Right now, throughout the Pacific Coast, we are in
stalling thousands of telephones.
Every day our waiting list is being cut dowr.
Our rate of progress in completing our unfilled
orders is dependent upon the receipt of the necessary
equipment from our manufacturers who are going
ahead as rapidly as possible in reconverting from all
out war production to supplying our peacetime needs.
Still, it will take some time before we can provide
service for everyone who wants it. Where the instru
ment itself is all that is needed, we are well on our way;
to take off the waiting list all such unfilled applica
tions. But there are many places where we will have to
build complicated switchboards . . . others where we
will have to put up entire new buildings.
You may be certain, though, that your telephone it
on the way and that we are doing everything humanly
possible to hurry the day we bring it to you.
