Miss Patton has been in Tegu

America, for the past two years
as an employe of the department
of military information. Before
coming west she spent the past
few weeks in New York, Wash
ington, D. C, and other eastern
cities.

To Hold Baiaar The an
nual bazaar and dinner will be
held by the Woman's Society of
Christian Service of the Metho
dist church Friday at the church,
it was announced today. The
affair opens at 10:30 a. m. and
will continue throughout the
day. A light lunch will be
served at noon and beginning at
5:30 p. m. dinner will be served
The bazaar sale, with a variety
of hand-made gift articles, will
continue throughout the day.
Osborns Here Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Osborn arrived in the
county Saturday evening from
a vacation trip into California
and Mexico and left again this
morning for Portland, Seattle
and Boise, Ida., on a combined
business and pleasure trip. Mr.
and Mrs. Britton of Los Angeles
accompanied the Osborns. Os
born and Britton, civilian prison
ers of the Japanese from the
time Wake Island was captured
until the end of the war, were
held in the same camp while
prisoners on the island of Honshu.

To Bring Toys All members
of the Daughters of the Nile
have been requested to bring a
toy to their meeting Saturday
at the Medford Masonic temple.
As is the custom of the organi
zation, the toys are to be collect
ed and sent in a Christmas pack
age to the crippled children at
the Shrine hospital in Portland.
On Trip Mr. and Mrs. Wil
liam S. Farrell, 621 East Main
street left Saturday for a vaca
tion tri to southern California
and Mexico. Mr. Farrell re
cently returned to this country
after serving as a sergeant In
North Africa for an extended
period. The Farrells were ac
companied as far as Sacramen
to, Calif., by Mrs. Farrell's sis
ter, Mrs. Ben Trowbridge, 1625
East Main street, who Is spend
ing a week in Sacramento with
Mr. Trowbridge, In that city on
business.
Re -Enlists Neville Von
Stein, 36, Medford. has re-enlisted
in the army with the rating
of technical sergeant in the air
corps according to a news re
lease from the military person
nel procurement service, Port
land. Von Stein, who has been
in the army nine and one-half
years and who served 10 months
with the 20th airforce in Guam,
wears the good conduct and
victory medals and the Ameri
can defense, American theater
and Asiatic-Pacific theater rib
bons with two battle stars.

tinguished a flue fire at 12:30
p. m. yesterday at the home of
Mrs. Evert Reames, 1121 North
Riverside avenue. No damage
was caused according to firemen.

Cars Damaged Cars operated
by B. E. Grovanneth, Hotel Med
ford, and Rose Zella Chinn,
route 3, were damaged somewhat
yesterday morning in a collision
at the intersection of Sixth street
and Cent;M avenue, according to
accident reports filed with city
police.
Gates Home George E. Gates,
Jr., arrived in the city last Wed
nesday from Bremerton, Wash.,
where he received an honoraole
discharge from the navy, and is
at the home of his parents, Mr
and Mrs. George E. Gates, 830
Minnesota avenue. Gates, a chief
photographer's mate, spent 37
months, of four years in tho
navy, overseas as a photographer
with the public relations depart
ment. Brothers Home Paul Dlmick,
former corporal in the air corps,
and Pvt. Donuld Dlmick are in
Medford visiting their mother,
Mrs. Mary Durst, 311 Ashland
avenue, and other relatives and
friends. Paul Dimick was recent
ly discharged from the army
after 40 months In the air force.
Pvt. Dimick is now serving with
the 86th infantry at Camp Rob
erts and is home on a 15-day
furlough.

To Attend Meeting Crater

ing Thursday of the Del Rogue
Post 2302 at Grants Pass to dis
cuss the housing shortage of re
turning veterans. Those attend
ing the meeting will Include

department commander.

Charles R. Mortimer, former ser
geant with the air force, return
ed home Saturday following an
honorable discharge from the
army at Ft. Lewis. He Is the son
of Mrs. Myrtle Mortimer, and
brother of Mrs. Elinor Dessen,
811 Taylor street. In the air
corps three years, Mortimer
served two years In the Pacific
theater as a member of a fighter
control unit of the Far Eastern
air force.
