Five provisions are listed in
the offer, the first providing a
12V4 cents per hour inciesse
across the board to all employes
represented by the union, effec
tive when employes resume
work. The second requests that
the union loin with thn pmr.lnv.
ers in seeking government ap
proval oi the wage increase so
that it could be considered an
item of cost under Exernliv
Order No. 9651, the wage in
crease to go into effect upon ac
ceptance by local unions and
their respective employers, and
to remain in effect whether or
not the application receives ap
proval. Third of the items listed under
the offer provides for recognition
that some or all employers might
now, or in the future return to
a 40-hour week and the fourth
recognizes that individual em
ployers and their local unions
might wish to convert the in
crease Into contract figures to
piece workers. As a fifth point

PARENTS HELD IN
DEATH BY BEATING
OF WAGED 3
Golden, Colo., Nov. 29 (U.R)
Authorities in Golden today
were holding for investigation
the father and step-mother of a
three-year-old child who was
said to have died as the result
of a "brutal and horrible" beat
ing.
Sheriff George Koch of Jef
ferson county, said an autopsy
had revealed that Robert Elliot
died from extensive hemor
rhages, brain laceration, extreme
shock and multiple contusion of
head, arms, legs and torso.
Child la Witness
Step-mother of the child, Mrs.
Viola Elliot had admitted strik
ing Robert Tuesday shortly be
fore his death, authorities said.
A witness to the alleged brutal
treatment to the child was 8-year-old
Jimmie Laine, son of
Mrs. Elliot by a former husband.
Jimmie Laine told authorities
that Mrs. Elliot knocked the
baby from his carriage and then
struck, kicked and kneed him.
Sheriff Koch said the baby had
tried to crawl across tht room
to a bed after the beating leav
ing a trail of blood spots.
The mother, wife of Leslie El
liot, worker in the U. S. mint
1 Denver who was also being
held, went into the kitchen and
drank a cup of coffee aftei the
bei-ting, according to the young
boy's testimony.
She then called her husband
who returned home at 9 a. m.
and remained throughout the
da until the mortuary was call
ed, authorities said. Mrs. Elliot
told Sheriff Koch that no doctor
had been called to care for the
child.
OBITUARY
HEBE GIBBS
Hebe Gibbs, wife of Sabtn
Gibbs and a resident of Med
ford for the past seven years
passed away in San Francisco
Wednesday.
Mrs. Gibbs was born In Ash
land, Ky. She was united in
marriage to Mr. Gibbs at Taco
ma, Wn., in June, 1904. They
made their home in Portland
for 13 years, and Oakland
Calif., six years, before coming
to Medford. The family resi
dence is the Evelyn Apartments
Besides her husband she is
survived by one son, William O.
Gibbs of Medford, one sister,
Mrs. Frank Chamberlain, and
one sister living in California.
Funeral services will be con
ducted from the Perl Funeral
Home Saturday at 2 p. m. with
the Rev. George R. Turney, ReC'
tor of Saint Marks Episcopal
church officiating. Interment
will be In Siskiyou Memorial
Park.

Washington (U.R) Radio
requisitioned from Germans are
being used to reunite hundreds
of displaced Polish families in
Germany, the United Nations
Relief and Rehabilitation Ad
ministration reported.
Poles in UNRRA's many as
sembly centers inside Germany
listen daily to military govern
ment broadcasts which list the
names of Poles at the different
camps.

MARY OLIVE BULLOCK
Mrs. Mary Olive Bullock, a
resident of Medford since 1910
passed away at her home on
Columbus street Thursday morn
ing. Mrs. Bullock was born Octo
ber 25, 1872, at Barbalo, Kans.
She was united in marriage to
William R. Bullock in Medford
on January 23, 1910.
She was an ardent church
member, a fine Christian char
acter and will be missed by a
host of friends.
Left to mourn her passing are
her husband and five children,
Ralph D. Bullock, San Francisco;
Mrs. Ruth Forgay, Vancouver.
Wash.; Mrs. Rose Frost, Wac,
stationed in California; Mrs.
Loveda McGrew, Oakland, Calif.,
and Mrs. Arletha Knutscn, Med
ford; two brothers, E. A. Sulli
van, Orland, Calif.; Ira L. Sul
livan. San Jose, Calif., and a sis
ter. Miss Gertie J. Sullivan, Medford.
Funeral services will be an
nounced later by the Perl Fu
neral Home pending on arrival
of relatives from out of state.

21. Officers were elected, the
drill team practiced and the No

freshments in honor of those
who had birthdays in November.
