nett was awarded the meritor
ious service unit Insignia, pur
ple heart with two oak leaf clus
ters, bronze star, good conduct
medal, combat Infantryman's
badge, and ribbons for the Amer
ican campaign and Asiatic-Pa
cific campaign. Mrs. Cornett Is
the former Malhe Gilley.

cense on motor vehicle, accord
ing to state police and court rec
ords. The youths were arrested
Monday by state police officers.
Aerie To Meet Regular

the winter with her daughter.

Ashland Curfew
Law Is Enforced
Ashland, Nov. 28 Chief of
Police C. P. Talent said yester
day all Ashland police officers
had been notified to enforce the
loaal curfew law, calling for
minors under 18 years of age to
be off the streets between 10:30
p. m. and 6 a. m. All night of
ficers have been instructed to
return to their homes any
minors who cannot show reason
for being on the streets during
the curfew hours, Talent said.
In event of a second offense,
parents will be brought into
court to show cause why they
should not pay a penalty.

Weather conditions prevented
an Upper Applegate party from
rescuing Andrew Jeldness, aged
prospector, ill at his isolated
cabin in the Big Squaw Lake
district yesterday, but his condi
tion was reported improved by
a fellow mine owner, "Slim"
Travis, who hiked the distance
to the Jeldness cabin with medi
cine. Lee Port, ranger of the
Rogue River National Forest
service, reported this morning
that Travis, owner of the Grub
stake Mine and other property
in the district, had offered to
visit Jeldness and his wife daily
until his recovery or conditions
permitted his removal to- the
home of relatives In Medford.
Travis had visited the Jeld
ness cabin earlier and upon his
return reported the veteran
miner ill and began organization
of a party to bring him out by
sled, since the last section of
road is now impassable by car
and the Jeldness cabin Is reach
ed by trail a considerable dis
tance beyond the end of the
road. - Jeldness is said to be 85
years old and his wife past 80.
New Scout Troop

A new Boy Scout troop, to be
sponsored by the Medford
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, was organized at a
meeting at the church last even
ing according to Gordon Gil
more, Scout executive. This
brings to 10 the number of Boy
Scout troops in the city proper,
Gilmbre states, and five cub
packs are also in operation. The
new unit will be Troop Six.
George Sanderson and Jack
Barnett will serve as scoutmas
ter and assistant scoutmaster,
and Robert Swan, Waldo Mielke
and Leonard Jay are troop com
mittee members.
It is planned to organize a cub
pack through the church in the
near future, Gilmore states.

OBITUARY
ANDREW HAMLIN
Andrew "Bud" Hamlin, 78,
passed away Monday in Klam
ath Falls. He was born at Med
ford, but has spent the last 50
years at Bandon, Oregon.
Mr. Hamlin leaves two sons,
Erwln of Klamath Falls and
James of Marysville, Calif. Also
one brother and one sister, Jeff
Hamlin and Julia Doubleday of
Medford," also five grandchil
dren and five great-grandchildren.
The remains will arrive In
Medford Friday and graveside
services will be conducted in
the Medford I.O.O.F. cemetery
at 2 p. m. Friday, with the Rev.
D. E. Millard officiating.

Management of the Osburn
hotel in Eugene will be assumed
Dec. 1 by Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Earley, owners of the Holland
hotel here, and their son, Joe
Early, Jr., recently dlschaiged
veteran, the Earleys announced
today. The Osburn is being leas
ed from Mrs. Jane K. Hodes,
owner.
Young Earley will be active
manager of the Osburn and his
parents will divide their time
between the two establishments.
Resident manager of the Holland
will be Kenneth Hammer, on the
hotel staff for a considerable
period.
Young Earley is a graduate of
the University of Oregon at Eu
gene and during his service with
the army was stationed in Eng
land with the eighth air force
for many months and later was
at Ft. George Wright, Spokane.
His parents are active in Med
ford civic affairs.

'The number of people want

decades from 1930 to 1960 will
show a progressive increase,"
he said, but "the provisions for
dental care will be less in 1960
than in 1930 because it it doubt
ful if dental schools will be at
full capacity before 1950."
Dental schools should draw
students from all sections of the
country in order to maintain an
equitable distribution of dentists
between rural and city areas.
