Statistics released by the pub
lic hculth service reveal that for
every death from tuberculosis
In a community there are about
nine p.-sons with the disease,
five of them known, four of
them unknown. Mrs. Dwight
Findlcy, chairman of the Jack
son County Chest X-ray com
mittee, called attention to these
figures yesterday, In urging all
residents of this county to be
X-rayed when the mobile unit
arrives to offer this free public
health service.
Taking the case of Jackson
Co., she pointed out that there
were eight deaths from tuber
culosis here last year. This
would Indicate that there are 72
persons In this community who
have the disease. According to
the statistics 40 of these are
known but there are 32 people
with tuberculosis, who either
do not know that they are ill or
have failed to seek medical ad

by the German physicist, Wil
helm Konrad Roentgen.

county drive to obtain X-rays of
all adult men and women are

Mobile unit arrives to take the
X-rays the following volunteers

HOI FROM WAR
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hollen
beck, 722 North Riverside ave
nue, are enjoying a visit from
two of their sons, Lt. Willard
and Sgt. Robert Hollcnbeck. Lt
Hollenbeck Is on terminal leave
after spending 43 months over
seas, most of which was spent In
the South Pacific. He holds the
bronze star medal, the victory
ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific ribbon
with two bronze stars and bronze
arrowheud, Philippine liberation
mednl with two bronze stars, the
American defense ribbon and
meritorious service unit plaque.
He served In the 24th quarter
master corps.
Sgt. Hollenbeck, who has re
ceived nn honorable discharge
from the service, holds the
American theater service medal,
distinguished unit badge, victory
medal, Eviropean-Afrlcan-Middle
Eastern service medal, six cam
paign stnrs and the Belgian
Boiirragere. Ho spent 22 months
in England, France, Belgium and
Germany and was In the ninth
army nlr corps.
The Hollenbeck's third son,
Cnpt. Clyde Hollenbeck, has also
received his honorable discharge
and at present, with his wife, is
living near Los Angeles.
