ALOOF FROM FAR
EAST MEETINGS
Washington, Nov. 6 U.PJ
The Far Eastern Advisory com

with Its work without a Russian
representative.
The commission scheduled an
other meeting tomorrow to hear
a report by Maj. Gen. J. H. Hill
dring, head of the war depart
ment civil affairs division. He
will tell the commission what
hns been happening in Japan un
der Gen. Douglas MacArthur's
orders and directives.
The meeting was closed to the
press but a spokesman revealed
that there was no formal men
tion of Soviet Russia's absence
except general statements by
some of the members that things
would work out so that Russia
eventually would be present.
No Word Received
The spokesman said there has
been no communication from
Russia since the decision of the
other big powers to revise the
functions and scope of the com
mission to satisfy Soviet de
mands for a larger voice in the
control machinery of Japan.
' The commission met for the
first time a week ago and re
cessed immediately until today
to give the Russians a chance to
send a representative in the light

Like oxidized coffee
oxidized oil is no good
Coffee must be freshly ground, then
kept tightly sealed, to prevent oxidation
from quickly robbing It of flavor and
aroma. Motor oil, too, loses efficiency
. . becomes sludgy , . , when attacked
by destructive oxidation . . . unless it's
protected py an oxidation inhibitor
motor oil that contains its own oxidation inhibitor
NEW Golden Shell motor oil contains a val
uable ingredient, added during manufac
ture, to resist the enemy of all motor oils . . .
oxidation.
Oxidation attacks many familiar things, caus
ing chemical change that makes them useless.
Rust is an example. So is hardened rubber that
cracks. So is cloth that's faded.
Sludgy motor oil is another example of oxi
dation . . . and one that's costly to cars of all ages.
Because sludge deposits gather in filters and oil
lines. ..clog them. ..and dangerously reduce the
flow of oil to bearing surfaces and moving parts.
That's why you need this new war-born Golden
Shell Motor Oil with oxidation inhibitor. Its new
ingredient fights off oxidation . . . lets the oil stay
full-bodied and free-flowing from one oil drain
to the next. Yes, New Golden Shell motor oil
offers better lubrication protection.
New or old, your car deserves this protection.
Better change to Golden Shell right away. Shell
