that ear. if there is reasonable
quiet, I can hear rales and things
which are hardly audible to
ordinary ears I mean my hear
ing in that one ear is better than
the average hearing of people
with two good ears that Is,
always provided there are no
confus'ng noises In the environ
ment. There are a good many poor
gckes walking around, oh, so
carefully lest they overexert
themselves, under the morbid
obsessli.n that they have "heart
trouble" when In fact they have
nothlnit the matter with the
heart or the circulation except
the disturbances of function
arising from fear or anxiety aris
ing from the. suggestion or the
bald assertion of some bumbling
doctor that there i a "murmur"
or that there Is "a leaking
valve" or that the heart Is
"weak' and the patient had bet
ter 'take things easy" and be
careful to avoid all strain.

anything the matter with the

Then there are a good many
morn people who are barred
from enjoying good health by
the blood pressure obsession,
Some of these are Just simple
mlndec they take seriously
whatever morbid suggestion the
nostrum mongers, diet or food
"specialists" and Hssorted near-
docturs and queer doctors who
cater to the ignorant. And some
are the wiseacres, who make it
their mischievous business to
find out Just how many "points"
high their blood pressure is and
go on from there doctoring
themselves.
Well, then, .do 1 mean to say
that a person can or should do
nothing about It If his or her
h 1 o o d pressure Is ... T No,
don't. But If you ask me about
It honestly and not Just to see
whe'.he you think I know what
I'm talking about, I say, to wit
as follows:

Calif., aboard the USS Cape Mears
after serving 22 months overseas as
chaplain's aide and medical corps
man. Ayres, who refused to carry
arms, says compulsory military train
ing for men between 18 and 21 might
not be a bad idea.

To Play Role In
"The Ghost Train"
The musical world Is aptly rep
resented In the play "The Ghost
Train" which the Little Theatre
group and the navy are Jointly
producing at Post Theatre No. 1,
Camp White, November 5, in the
person of Lewis T. Eanes, emi
nent pianist of Greenville, S. C.
Eanes, who plays the role of
Charles Murdock, a newlywed
on his honeymoon, studied piano
at' the Chicago Musical College,
the Jullliard Institute of Music in
New York City and with the fa
mous Casadesus at Fontainblcau,
France, before the war. He has
appeared at the American Con
servatory Auditorium In Phila
delphia and many other famous
symphony halls throughout the
notion.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic
orchestra has engaged Eanes as
guest soloist for a performance
January 9 when he will play Mo
zart's Concerto in E Flat Major.

Owen, 15-year-old Kerby high
school student, received a broken
leg while practicing football
Thursday afternoon, Jim was
tackled by his brother, Jack, and
fell with such force that It broke
both bones of his left leg near
