city police Friday that an ad
dress book containing 10 20-dol-lar
bills had been taken from his
clothing or room.
Tools Stolen James E. Bis
hop, 344 N. Bartlett St., reported
to city police Saturday that a
steel Stanley level, 30 inches
long, a hand ax and a wrecking
bar, had been stolen from his
car at his home.
On Bail Released on $10 bail
Friday was Guy Walton Money,
ham, 33, who was arrested at a
local cafe on a charge of dis
orderly conduct. James Dean, 39,
was lodged in city jail on a
charge of drunkeness after his
arrest in a cafe.
Horse Lost W. T. Randall,
Rt. 1, box 118, reported to city
police Friday that, an 1100-pound
black horse with white star on
his forehead hsd strayed from
the Randall home. Mrs. Hugh
McGinty reported Friday that a
brown colored team of mules had
strayed from the McGinty ranch
west of Jacksonville.
Bicycle, Hit Slight damage
was done to a bicycle ridden by
Wesley Wallace, 718 Palm St.,
Thursday morning when it col

Tire Returned A TJ. S. Royal
6 ply tire, 17 by 6.00, taken off
a 1933 Graham sedan owned by
Roy D. Green, Rt. 1, box 513,
was later returned to the owner,
according to a report filed with
city police. The tire was taken
between 7 and 8:30 p. m. Friday
as the car stood before a tavern
on N. Front street.
On Leave William G. Gaines,
aviation ordnance mate third
class, and friend, Herman Bar
ton, who holds a similar rating,
are in Medford on a 10-day
leave, visiting Gaines' parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gaines, 119
Portland avenue. The navy men
are subject to 24 hours notice,
to be snipped to the South Pa
cific Spencer Discharged William
Spencer, formerly a master ser
geant with five and a half years
service in the air corps, arrived
in Medford Friday after receiv
ing an honorable discharge at
Fort Lewis. His wife and daugh
ter came from Oakland, Calif.,
to meet him here, and they are
visiting Mr. Spencer's aunt and
uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Rosco Lar
son, 303 N. Holly St.

man, now stationed in Practa-
tree, Czechoslovakia, is writing
! sports for the newspaper of the
I 94th division, "The Attack," a
recent letter from the service
man to his mother, Mrs. Bernice
Kunzman, 607 West Eighth
street, stated. Pfc. Kunzman has
been overseas a year, having
participated in the German in
vasion. He will be remembered
as a former football player for
Medford high school.

Guenther Discharged T'Sgt.
Herbert H. Guenther was dis
charged from the army air forces
at Portland, Ore., last week after
three years service during which
time he was stationed for 31
months at the ferrying division
base of Homestead, Fla., as a
mess sergeant. In civilian life, he
owned and operated a butcher
shop in Medford. Guenther is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Hwgo Guen
ther, 613 S. Newton St.

Returned To Duty Bob Weis
enburger, S 1c. son of Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Weisenburger, has
been returned to active duty
with the navy at Pearl Harbor
after his discharge from a navy
hospital where he underwent
seven weeks of treatment for a
skin fungus disease contracted
in the Pacific. A graduate of
Medford high school with the
class of 1944. Weisenburger has
been overseas about three
months.

Simmons and Pfc. Orlando L.
Sloggy of Ashland, and SSgt.
Earl V. Allison of Jacksonville,
according to a release from the
center. Released by the navy at
Bremerton, Wash., were Donald
W. Lefler, painter, third class,
and Paul M. Robinson, water ten
der, first class, both of Grants
Pass.
Visit Parents Capt. Lewis
Hedgpeth, with his wife, son
and daughter, visited last week
with the captain's parents. Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd H. Hedgpeth of
Blue Moon ranch, Central Point.
Capt. Hedgpeth Is now on termi
nal leave following his return
Sept. 27 from two years overseas
duty. The officer commanded a
unit of combat engineers, super
vising projects such as road re
pair, building and portable steel
bridges, foot and pontoon
bridges, and other emplacements.
He took part in battles in Nor
mandy, Central Germany, Rhine
land and Ardennes.

Auto Mishaps Approximately
$25 damage was inflicted on a
1940 Ford pickup operated by
Mrs. Fred Van Dyke of Ashland
when it collided with a sedan
driven by Roger Clement at 4:15
p. m. Friday, according to an
accident report filed. Ronald
Clark, 601 Park St., reports that
his 1941 Pontiac was in collision
on West Main St. Friday eve
ning with a coupe operated by a
Mr. Chew. James E. George, Rt.
4, box 199, and Paul W. Robert
son, Rt. 2, box 83, drove sedans
involved in a mishap about 8

Mrs Muse reportedly came to'

and has been employed in fruit
work until recently.
SALVAGE DRIVES ENDED
SAYS COMMITTEE HEAD
Robert Duff, chairman of the
Jackson County salvage commit
tee, said today there will be no
more salvage drives conducted
by local committees. Duff said
fats will continue to be salvaged
but there will be no paper, tin
or other salvage campaigns car
ried on by the committees.

William Driscoll
New Office Head

William Driscoll of Portland
has moved his family to Med
ford to take over the position of
office manager of Eads Transfer,
according to Vernon Evans, one
of the owners of the pioneer
moving firm.
Driscoll, who was formerly es
sociated with a large transporta
tion company, has a background
of experience that will enable

volume of office work resulting
from Eads rapicily expand. uy

The Driscolls have purchased
a home at 109 South Orange.
Phil Lay recently resigned as
