ROGUE PIG PRODUCTION
LESS THAN EXPECTED
Pig production of the Rogue
River Valley, due to a shortage
of brood sows, will not be as
high as expected this fall,
County Agent Robert G. Fowler
said today. Fall farrowing is
just beginning and pigs for fat
tening for ham and bacon are In
demand.
The turkey crop of the valley,
estimated at 100,000 birds, is
now in fine shape. The ceiling
price has been set at 22 and 21
cents per pound. Nevertheless,
Turkey journals predict a drop
In price. Demand of turkeys
for the armed forces is expected
to be lower than last year.
