Ashland Building
Ashland, Oct. 2 Jackson
County Democratic executive
central committee took action
pertaining to a new federal
building here recently.
A complete statistical pictur
ed record book showing the ur
gent necessity of a federal post
office building, which was com
piled by County Chairman V. D.
Bert Miller was forwarded to
Robert Hannegan, postmaster
general and National Democrat
ic chairman. It was conclusive
ly shown that Ashland's first
class post office is now operat
ing under fourth class condi
tions, Miller said.
A plan of sectional organiza
tion work was adopted at the
meeting. The plan is for division
of the county into six parts and
the placing of key men in the
sections to augment campaign
work.
A committee, appointed by
Millei, for mapping out of the
county by precincts for the sub
dividing work, consists of D. D.
Davis, chairman, with Moore
Hamilton, Lester P Mathes and
Pat Graham as co-members.

coast posts of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars were condemned
today by their commander-in-chief,
Jean A. Brummer of Now
York for banning Japanese-
Am.?r!cans from membership.
"The VFW is a democratic or
ganic ion and, unfortunately,
we could not control the actions
of those west coast posts,'
Brummer said. "We want no
racial discrimination within
the VFW I'm sorry we can't
remedy what has happened."
Brummer's statement came as
the 4tith national encampment
of the VFW opened here with a
United Nations veterans victory
conference. Heroes of 17 of the
United Nations were expected
to participate in the conference.
