the parlor of the Presbyterian
church. The Rev. Harry W. Han
sen read the double-ring cere
mony before the fireplace which
had been decorated with flow
ers and tall candelabra holding
lighted tapers.
Miss Davis, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Davis of Shady
Cove, was given in marriage by
her father. For the wedding she
wore ( powder blue suit with
navy blue accessories and a cor
rage of gardenias and roses Her
maid-of-honor, Miss Betty Stew
ard of Grants Pass, wore a beige
suit with beige and black ac
cessories and a corsage of gar
denias. Sgt. Donald Helm served as
best man for his brother.

er the service a reception was
held at the Medford Hotel.

brief wedding trip and are now

Thursday afternoon at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D.
Church, 301 Hamilton street.
The groom Is a brother of Mrs.
Church.
The candlelight service was
performed at five o'clock in the
afternoon by the Rev. Delbert
Daniels. The bride's wedding
costume was of coral with black
accessories and she wore a cor
sage of white gladioli and talis
man rosebuds. Mrs. Church
wore black with a corsage of red
gladioli.
Mr. Church acted as best man
for the groom.
Mr and Mrs. Porter plan a
trip to Portland before the
groom reports to Port Hueneme,
Calif. He recently returned
home after 16 months duty in
the Aleutian Islands with the
Naval Construction Battalion.

Miss Lewis and Lt. Harr were
married Sept. 13 at West Univer
sity Methodist church in Hous
ton by Dr. Harry G. Knowles.
The bride's wedding costume
was a gray faille gown worn
with gray accessories and a
veiled hat. Her flowers were a
corsage of white orchids and
stcphanotis.
Miss Gaynell Ayers, the
bride's only attendant, wore
aqua crepe wtih black acces
sories and a corsage of pink car
nations. Lt. (jg) Edward E. Lewis,
brother of the bride served as
best man for Lt. Harr and ushers
were Charles M. Lewis and Ward
Ons tad.
A reception at the home of the
bride's parents followed the wed
ding. Miss Virginia Epperson
poured, Miss Charlene Barton
served and Miss Ann McElroy
presided at the bride's book.
Mrs. Harr graduated from
Crane high school in Houston
while the- groom attended Jack
son county schools and later the
University of Oregon. He served
overseas with the air corps and
was a prisoner of war in Ger
many for 18 months after having
been forced down during a raid.

The annual homecoming was
inaugurated by Nettie Thomp
son, worthy matron of Adarel in
1918, and each year since has
brought many members from
distant places to spend an enjoy
able evening in their home chap
ter. Mrs. Ethel Pease headed the
committee which had charge of
the dining room and table de
corations. Lodge Will Visit
Neighboring Group
Plans are being made for
members of Olive Rebekah
lodge to visit the Jacksonville
lodge Oct. 1. The visit will be
made following a brief business
session at the lodge hall here.

Rock, received last week.
The wedding, which was sol
emnized Monday afternoon,
September 3, in the Old Church
of Leek, England, was preceded
by the ringing of the church
bells and as the couple left the
church the bride s young cousin.
Miss Peggy Hulse, presented
her with a silver horseshoe,
The vicar, the Rev. N. W.
Watson, M. A., R. D was the
officiating clergyman. The bride
was given in marriage by her
father and wore a gown of white
figured satin with hand embroi
dered veil, and carried a bou
quet of white carnations. Her
bridesmaids were Miss Joan
Worsley and her cousin, Miss
Patricia Peach. The former
wore, a frock of ecru net over
blue laffeta with head-dress to
match and carried a bouquet of
pink carnations; the latter a
dress of pink crepe de chine
with overdress of white net,
headdress and nosegay of pink
and white sweetpeas.
The bride's mother wore a
brown costume with corsage of
pink carnations.
Be.-t man for the bridegroom
was Roy Cordon, cousin of the
bride, and groomsmen were
Wm. A. Bowycr and M. Phillip
Bailey.
Miss, Parr presided at the or
gan and played "The Bridal
March" for entrance of the wed
ding party. The service was
fully choral.
Following the wedding a
large reception was held at the
Three Horseshoes, Blackshaw
Moor, after which the couple
loft for a honeymoon at Llan
dudno on the coast of Wales.
The bride wore for traveling a
grey costume with navy blue
nccessories.
The bride is the only child of
the R. H. Garnetts of "Glen
Top". She is a cadet officer in
the Girls Training Corps, which
was very active during Eng
landi years at war. She and
Lieut. Rlchrtrdson met at an of
ficers' dance, when he was sta
tioned in England.
Lieut. Richardson attended
the Central Point schools and
was graduated from the Univer
sity of Oregon school of law.
He was associated with the law
firm of Green and Landye in
Portland, when he entered the
service. He received his offic
er's training at Camp Davis in
North Carolina and was with
the D5th division through the
European campaigns and until
V-E day. He is now in com
mand of Headquarters Battery
S47th AAA Bn. In Belgium.
The couple will be at home In
Portland when Lieut. Richard
son is returned to civilian life.
Stanford Students
Leave For School
Several Medford students left
Medford last week for Stanford
university In California where
the .'all quarter opens Sept. 24.
Thursday morning Bill Patton
left by motor for the school,
where he will enroll for his
freshman year, and leaving by
plane Thursday were the Misses
Lois Pringle and Patricia 'Far
rell. Both young women will be
seniors this year. Miss Barbara
Inskcep, a junior, left Saturday
by car Bnd also leaving that day
was Allen Lewis, a sophomore.

couple Is remaining in Snn Fran
cisco for a week's vacation. Miss

D. E. Millard performed the cere
mony at 9 o'clock before a group
of 25 relatives and friends of
the couple. A group from the'
Eagle's lodge, of which the
groom Is a member, were pre
sent in uniform.
Before the ceremony Rev. Mil
lard -sang "I Love You Truly."
The bride wore a dark suit
with corsage of gardenias and
pink roses. Mrs. Leland Jones,
sister-in-law of the groom, was
matron of honor. She wore a
suit of aqua color with gardenia
corsage.
Jesse L. Gentry was best man.
The groom is an employee' of
the Bear Creek Orchards. He
and his bride will make their
home in Medford.

Mrs. E. W. Hoffman was hon
ored guest at a farewell party
given at her home Sept. 14 by
members of the Jolly Stitcheis'
club. Mrs. Hoffman and her
husband, Dr. Hoffman, will leave
in the near future to make their
home in McMinnville. The
doctor is retiring and in Mc
Minnville the couple will live
near relatives.
Pinochle was played during
the evening, with Mrs. Harry
Barneburg receiving prize for
high score and Mrs. O. V. Hayes
the consolation prize. Refresh
ments were served.

which honored her son and
daughter-in-law, First Lt. and
Mrs. William Salade of Phoenix,
Ariz., who are here to spend a
week with Mrs. Salade at her
home in Central Point. Lt. Sal
ade is stationed at Luke Field
and is currently assigned to the
instruction of Chinese student
fliers.
Lt. and Mrs. Salade's wedding
was an event of recent months.

Helen Ann Cox of Globe, Ariz.
Expected here this week are
Mrs. Salade's daughter and son-in-law.

In Kansas Service
Among recent weddings was
that of Miss Doris Genevieve
Babcock, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. D. W. Babcock, Coker
Butte Road, and Cpl. Kenneth P.
Schurman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Aver Schurman of Atchison,
Kan. The service was solemnized
at four o'clock in the afternoon,
Sept. 12, at the First Christian
church of Atchison, with the
Rev. Loyal Northcott reading the
double-ring ceremony.
The bride's wedding costume
was of coral pink with acces
sories of white and her flowers
were a pink rosebud corsage. She
wore a string of pearls, gift of
the groom. The matron-of-honor,
Mrs. R. W. Morrison, sister of
the groom, wore a dark green
afternoon dress, brown . acces
sories and a corsage of white
asters.
Orean Hale acted as best man.
Seventy guests were present
for the reception at the home
of the groom's parents. The wed
ding cake formed the serving
table centerpiece, with flowers
and lighted candles completing
the table decorations.
Assisting the groom's mother
at the reception were Mrs. Rich
ard Linell, Mrs. Harry Kreider
and Mrs. C. C. Anderson.
Cpl. and Mrs. Schurman left
later for Medford and are now
visiting at the home of the
bride's parents. For traveling
Mrs. Schurman wore a powder
blue gabardine suit with white
accessories.
Cpl. Schurman recently re
turned home after serving in the
Mediterranean theater of opera
tions with the Fifth army, dur
ing which he was decorated. He
reports later to Ft. Leavenworth,
Kan., and then to an Alabama
camp. Mrs. Schurman, a grad
uate of Medford high school, will
resume her work at the Medford
Laboratories, remaining here for
the present.
Dancing Party
Held Last Night
At Officer Club
Army and navy officers of
Camp White and their wives and
guests held a dinner dance at
the 1913 SCU Officers' club last
evening. Cocktails at 7 o'clock
preceded dinner and dancing
followed, with music by the SCU
band. Guests included a num
ber of townspeople.
Lt. Col. I,. J. Farber is the
new commanding officer of the
camp.
