TO GAS CHAMBER

Victims about to be sent to the
gas chambers at the nazis' Os
wiccim concentration camp were
kicked and beaten into trucks
for their last ride, Mrs. Ada
Dimko, Polish woman doctor,
told a British military court to
day. Dr. Dimko was the only wit
ness today at the trial of 45 nazi
camp guards and commanders
who could be executed if found
guilty of the charges against
them, which include camp atro
cities. Under cross examination, the
black haired Jewish doctor, who
testified yesterday that her
whole family had been extermi
nated in the gas chambers, testi
fied that she saw Josef Kramer
beat resisting prisoners with his
fists.
"He was engaged in catching
some and hitting and kicking
into trucks those who were not
quick," she said. Kramer was
commander of the notorious Bek
en camp after leaving Oswiecim.
When defense atto-neys insist
ed her statements about Kramer
were a complete fabrication, Dr.
Dimko said:

the court that it was me, not

present at the incidents, describ
ed." She protested vigorously when
defense counsel said he dougted
her testimony that 4,000,000
Jews and Gypsies had died in the
gas chambers.
Although she described her
own health as "fair" because of
helping at the hospitals in both
camps, Dr. Dimko said she, too,
had been beaten.

Edmondson M. Leever, born
Oct. 20, 1867. near Central
Point, passed away at his home
in Klamath Falls Sept. 21. He
was the son of the late William
and Klizabeth Leever who ar
rived in the Rogue River Valley
in 1852.
He leaves his widow, a son
and daughter.
Graveside services will be
held in the Odd Fellows ceme
tery at 3 p. m. Monday.

Samuel C. Epes was found
guilty of murder today on
charges of poisoning his slender
blonde wife and burying her in
an army foxhole last winter, but
the jury's recommendation for
mercy sent him to prison for life
instead of to the electric chair.
Judge A. L. Gaston immediate
ly pronounced the sentence of
life imprisonment for the
wealthy Richmond, Va., socialite.
Epes was moved to the white
washed state penitentiary a mile
and one-tenth away to begin
serving this afternoon the life of
toil decreed by the court.
He was led out a side door
and through an alley to a blue
sedan, followed by a throng of
bobby sox high school girls and
other spectators clamoring to
touch the condemned man.

Mrs Bonnie Allen, 27, feared
tonight that her soldier hus
hand's refusal to forgive the
pastor who fathered her baby
would mean trouble for the
preacher when Pvt. Elmer Al
len riturns from overseas next
month.
Allen, in a letter, offered to
forgive her for bearing the 14-month-old
son which a superior
court jury last spring declared
was lathered by Mrs. Allen's
pastor, the Rev Cecil King.
"He says he loves me still,"
Mrs. Allen revealed. "But h
hasn't forgiven Dr. King. 'When
I come home', he wrote me.
'you can bring the baby with
you.'
"Now I'm afraid there will be
plenty of trouble when Elmer
comes home after being in Eu
rope more than" two years and
meets with the Rev. King," Mrs.
Allen added.

HELD FOR THEFT
Eugene Bellows, 21, Vean Rob
ertson, 22, and a 17-year-old ju
venile, all of the Prospect dis
trict, arc in the Jackson county
Jail on charges of car theft and
forgery. They were arrested last
night at Prospect by sheriff's
deputies and state police on a
warrant held by the sheriff's of
fice, charging forgery. They ad
mitted stealing an auto at San
Jose, Calif., which was in their
possession. I
'Bellows and the Juvenile were !
arrested in bed at a Prospect re
sidence Thursday night but Rob
ertson was not there. Later he
was seen driving rapidly by the
house in the stolen car. Bellows
and the youth were brought to
Medford and lodged In the coun
ty jail, the sheriff's deputy and
police returning to Prospect in
search of Robertson.
Aid of the deputy sheriff at
Prospect was obtained and the
stolen car was found on an un
used road, hidden in brush. Rob
ertson later was found hiding in
a cabin in the vicinity of Flounce
Rock.
The men are under investiga
tion on further charges, it was
stated.
