On Furlough Sgt. Robert
Meals, who debarked in the
United States recently after sev
eral months service with the 8th
air force in England, is expected
to arrive in Jacksonville today
from Ft. Lewis, Wash., to spend
a furlough at the family home.
Returns Mrs. Edwin A. And
ren has returned to the valley
after an extended period of resi
dence in California and is mak
ing her home in Central Point
with her mother, Mrs. Betta
Pankcy. Her husband, Lt. Ed
win A. Andren, in the navy for
the past three years, is now as
signed to the aircraft carrier
wasp currently in Tokyo Bay.

To Corvallis Mrs. Raymond
Ross left the city Wednesday
for Corvallis where she will

Miksche, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.

nue, is to leave tomorrow for
Santa Ana, Calif., for reassign
ment with the army air force. !
His mother and sister, Stephan

base. Lt. Miksche arrived in
the States recently following
service with the air force in
England since February and has
been visiting his parents and

In Slovakia SSgt. Robert
L. As'.-.er, in Europe for the past

' ferred from the Eleventh Ar
moreci Division to the Seventh
Armored and is now in Czecho
slovakia. With his last letter
the sergeant sent to his parents.
Mr. n'ld Mrs. Otis Asher, 126
North Holly street, a quantity
of prit ted material which gives
the history of the Eleventh Ar
mored since training days early
in the war and copies of news
dispatches written about the
division.
The sergeant, whose wife
lives in Ashland, was wounded
during January and wears the
purpl.- heart and other decora
tions. His younger brother,
James P. Asher, ships cook 2c.
was recently home and left last
week to report at Bremerton.
He has been in the navy three
years and was in the South Pa
cific -nore than 23 months.
Autoi Collide Cars operated
by Gordon H. Thompson, Port
land, and Frank H. Wright, Wil
liams, Ore., collided Friday on
Fir street causing some damage
to both vehicles, according to ac
cident reports filed with city
police.
School Entered City police
were called to the Medford
Beauty school, East Main street,
Friday to investigate after the
school had been entered some
time Thursday night. Nothing
was reported missing, according
to police.
To California Mrs. Sarah
John, 720 West 13th street, and
daughter, Mrs. Lester Smith, left
the city Friday for Mrs. Smith's
home in Fairfield, Calif., where
Mrs. John plans to spend the
next two weeks. Mrs. Smith has
been visiting with her mother
the past few days.
Recovering Otis Garrett, of
Talent, who suffered severe
bruises Wednesday in a fall from
a load of hay, is making good
recovery in the Ashland Com
munity hospital, it was reported
Saturday. Mr. Garrett fe,U when
the trip rope broke while he was
unloading hay at a neighboring
farm.
Discharged Ray Hickey ar
rived in the city recently follow
ing an honorable discharge from
the army air corps at Camp
Beale, Calif., after six years in
the army and three years service
overseas. Hickey and nis wue
the former Jean Coffin, make
their home at 527 Franquette
street.
Stewart Home Robert Stew
art, son of Mr. and Mrs. James
B. Stewart, 50 Modoc avenue
arrived in Medford last Satur
day from Ft. Lewis, Wash., after
receiving an honorable dischaige
from the army air corps. Stew
art, a technical sergeant with
the air force, served two years
overseas in both the Asiatic and
European theaters. He gradu
ated from the Curtiss air tech
nical school at Buffalo, N. V.,
shortly before receiving the dis
charge.
