Crop insurance legislation was
enacted by congress early this
year and as the premium rates
are small, only 1.7 bushel per
acre for this county for 75 per
cent of the normal yield, many
farmers should take advantage
of this opportunity to insure
their crop against natural
enemies, drought, winter kill,
and many other factors that
would reduce the wheat yield.

Brought You This Amazing New Fuel
Gasoline is composed of countless different hydro-carbon -iasLx.r-r.
molecules. Old style gasolines are made up of various com- jfc .. "'
binations or these different kinds of molecules. But, under A'gMfil
the impetus of war, chemists lound how to take the mol
ecules tbemseliet apart actually how to rearrange the
atoms u ilhin the molecules. vf-
The result is the thrilling, amazing power of Signal's new
gasoline bring'ng vou performance so immediately
apparent you tan I ILL IT - iCi IT - HEAR IT.'
NEW ECONOMY TOO I
The increased power that brings ou this new driving
pleasure brings new economy, too. Because in the same
amount of gasoline you now get additional power for
more high-gear miles to take your car farther. So as you
thrill to the fun of driving with the new Signal Gasoline
enjoy new extra mileage as you...
ers can now apply fo the coun
ty office of the Agricultural Ad
justment Administration for sub
sidy payments designed to help
meet increased production costs
and increase the supply of lamb
and mutton. Applications may be
made for sales since August 5,
1945, and through June 30, 1946.
Questions have been asked in
regard to the sale of lambs
through commission houses and
whether subsidies would be al
lowed for lambs sold under that
condition. Lambs in that case
still belong to the farmer and
he is eligible to receive the pay
ment. They must be sold to an
authorized slaughterer and the
agent is simply the go-between.
Feeder lambs are not entitled
to a subsidy unless sold for feed
ing to an authorized slaughterer.
Evidence consisting of invoices,
sales tickets, account purchases,
slaughter sheets, receipts which
will show time of slaughter, pur
chase price, number of head, to
tal live weight, whether sheep or
lambs. Also a certificate count
ersigned by the person or his
agent from whom purchased
showing that the sheep or lambs
were purchased for feeding.
Superphosphate
Supply Arranged
Arrangements have been made
by the AAA office for local deal
ers to handle the supply of super
phosphate this year. Purchase or
ders will be issued by the AAA
office to applicants and deliv
eries will be made by the local
dealer. Purchases may be made
from the dealer without going
through the AAA office but the
entire amount will have to be
paid in cash.
Farmers who wish this ma
terial should contact the AAA
office as soon as possible in or
der to get their supply which
will probably all be in by Jan
uary 1.

County agent.

Jackson county turkey crop
this year will approach the 100,
000 mark according to County
Agent Robert G. Fowler. The
birds are now in fine shape and
thriving. Some of the corp crop
of valley, now approaching
maturity and harvesting, will
be needed for feed for the birds
as there is a shortage of prepar
ed feed in the valley. The corn
is mixed in fattening mash. Tur
key production this year is
about twice what it was last
year. Many of the birds are:
under army set-aside contracts.
Threshing of the seed crop of
the valley is now about half
finished. No price has been de
finitely set but it is expected to
be around S1.75 per pound. On
the C. C. Hoover ranch some of
the Ladino clover was threshed
at night, when the dew was on,
and there was less seed wastage
