Car Stolen An automobile
belonging to E. R. Davis, route
2, was reported stolen from
Grape street sometime after 4
p. m. last night, city police said
today.
Cars Collide Cars operated
by I. W. Bush, 1015 Reddy ave
nue, and Mrs. H. J. Strahm,
Brownsborough, collided yester
day at the intersection of Fifth
and Bartlett streets, according to
an accident report filed with city
police. Gary Strahm, a passen
ger, was listed as slightly injur

Friends Here Visitors in the

Ind., Christian church when the
Rev. and Mrs. Daniels were with

of Seattle, Wash., Joined her son
and family here and was also a
guest of the Daniels.

Son Due Here Mrs. Jessie
Moore, 714 Palm street, has re
ceived a telegram from her son,
Donald D. Williams, of the
1084th engineers, that he is now
in the states and is expected to
arrive home soon. Having been
in the service six years, Williams
served in the Attu campaign.
In Salem The Rev. and Mrs.
Delbert W. Daniels, 320 South
Holly street, and family, have
returned home from Salem
where they were called Sunday
by the death of a close friend.
While in Salem they also visited
with Mrs. Daniels' sister, Mrs.
Merle H. Price of Seattle, Wash.
Plan DAV Party Members of
the Disabled American Veterans
and the auxiliary are invited to
meet at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Huntley, 23 Elm
street, Friday at 7:30 p. m. for
a "melon feed." The Huntleys re
port that they have grown a
quantity of fine watermelons and
cantaloupes and will be glad to
have DAV comrades and their
families share them.
Heart From Sons Mr. and
Mrs. R. A. Brewer, 307 Laurel
street, recently received word
from their two sons, now in the
service. Pfc. John Brewer re
cently underwent surgery at
Dibble General hospital, Menlo
Park, Calif., after having been
wounded in Italy last October.
Cpl. Bob Brewer has recently
been transferred from the infan
try to the Ninth division band at
Ingolstadt, Germany.
Set Closing Date September
13 will be the last day of the
issuance of home canning sugar,
Willard Case, food rationing ex
ecutive for the office of price
administration, announced to
day. Case states all home canners
who have not already sent in
their applications for their 1945
canning sugar should do so im
mediately, since applications will
be received and processed only
up to and including Sept. 15.
Gets Commendation James
H. Berrian, RDM l 'c, has been
authorized to wear the commen
dation ribbon for distinguishing
himself by excellent service as
an operator aboard a vessel dur
ing action in the southwest Pa
cific area, according to a letter
from Vice-Admiral D. E. Barbey,
commander of the Seventh Fleet.
Berrian is the grandson of Mrs.
Hattie L. Rankin, 114 Genesee
street.
Navy Man Here John Bul
lock, S l-'c, former Medford stu
dent now at Chicago, 111., for
radar training with the navy, is
in Medford on leave and is a
guest at the home of Dr. and
Mrs. George S. Jennings, Sagi
naw Drive. Young Bullock, a son
of Lt. Col. and Mrs. E. S. Bul
lock, was a member of the 1945
graduating class of Medford high
school. The youn3 man will leave 1
Sunday and will be accompanied
as far as Eugene by Miss Hor
tense Jennings, who will enter
the University of Oregon this
month for her freshman year.

navy in March of 1939 and spent
37 months overseas. He Is a

The former serviceman has gone
to New York to visit his fiancee
and is expected here later. His
two brothers. Gage Sanden and
Roger Card, are also in the ser
vice. Gage Sanden. EMlc, re
cently arrived in this country
and is now en route home from
Jacksonville, Fla., after nn ab
sence of two years. He has been
in the navy more than seven
years. Roger Card. Seabee, was
in Hawaii at the time of the
war's ending. A daughter of
the Sandens. Mrs. H. J. Stoll,

currently visiting relatives in
