Son in Jap Prison
Gold Hill. Aug. 3 A copy of
a message from their son. Jack
M. Hancock, Japanese prisoner
of war since the invasion of
Wake island, has been received
by Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Han
cock of Gold Hill. The boardcast
message was intercepted by lis
teners of the Provost Marshal
General at Washington, D. C
and by several people in south
ern California, who notified Mr.
and Mrs. Hancock.
Hancock, a navy employee on
Wake island, ls confined In
Fukuoka Camp, Japan. His mes
sage reads:
"Dear mother, Just a few
words to let you know I am well
and still thinking of home and
you and hope that you will think
of me as often. How is everyone?
Fine and happy I hope. Where
are sis and the babies, are dad
and Fred still working at the
plant? I hope that things will
soon come about so that every
body can return home and to
the normal life they once had.
As ever, your loving son, Jack."
