Industry, Monday marked hl
82nd birthday with an eye to the
future and a prediction of a
great and "unequaled prosper
ity" If industry "doenn'l
die."
Ford passed his anniversary
quietly in Dearborn, home of his
birth.
He declared it was hlg belief
that "the nation and the world
are on the threshold of pros
perity and standard of living
that never before was consid
ered possible." He admitted
"there are problems human,
economic, and political that
must be solved.
"But," he aid. "employment
hinges on the right of private
industry to go forward unham
pered. There must be mora and
mora Industry; more and mora
competition for greater excel
lence in quality. These will
bring more and more employ
ment." GRAYBEAL DEATH TOLD

The American Red Cross today
revealed the death of Harold W.
Oraybeal, West Los Angeles,
Calif., assistant Red Cross field
director who was captured by
the Japanese in the fall of Man
ila. The Red Cross said Oray
beal, 47, died Dec. 15, 1944,
along with other American pris
oners when a Japanese prison
ship was sunk In the Pacific.
