J. Clave of Eagle Point, an aerial
engineer in the 13th AAF air
craft group, aided in the unit's
work in neutralizing Jap forti-

invasion, according to a release
from his headquarters in the
Philippine islands. They blast
ed a Jap airstrip until it was un
serviceable, but' were attacked
by two enemy fighters which
badly shot up their B-24 Libera
tor, the notice adds.

C. Purclin, husband of Mrs. Mar
jorie Purdin and son of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Purdin, 335 Fairmont
street, left the Victorville army
air field, Victorville, Calif., last
Thursday for Ft. Lewis, Wash.,
to be released from active serv
ice under the army point system
and is now in Medford for a few
days en route to the separation
center. He enlisted in Septem
ber, 1939 and was commissioned
in April, 1943. Going overseas
in July, 1943, he served as a
pilot with the 9th, 12th and 15th
air forces until August, 1944
wneu ne returned 10 me states.
While overseas he participated
in 47 bombing missions and re
ceived the purple heart, air
medal with six oak leaf clusters
and the silver star.

Officer Home Lt. (J.G.) Don
ald C. Wimer and wife and
daughter arrived in the city Wed
nesday from Daytona Beach,
Fla., where Lt. Wimer has been
stationed with the naval air
corps. He returned to the U. S.
in February after eight months
overseas duty, and will report to
San Diego upon expiration of
nis leaves.

In Army James L. Graham,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P.
Graham, 108 Cottage street, who
was inducted Into the army July
8 at Portland, is now stationed
at Camp Crowder, Mo for basic
training with the medical corps.
James is the third son of the
Grahams to be inducted into the
armed forces, the other two be
ing Pat, Jr., in the navy, and
Danny, at West Point.
Home From Navy Clark L.
Carlton, son of Mrs. Nell C. Carl
ton, 728 West Fourth street, is
spending a 30-day navy leave
with his mother,. Carlton, who
enlisted in the navy immediately
after the U. S. entry into the
war, has spent the past three
and one-half years in the Pacific
theater. He will report to the
naval school of advance fire con
trol maintenance at San Diego,
Aug. 23 for a four months' course
of advance training.

Davidson Discharged Thomas
P. Davidson, a first lieutenant
and bombardier recently return
ed from overseas duty, has ar
rived home with an honorable
discharge from Ft. Lewis, Wash.,
placing him on inactive duty on
the point system. Son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. A. Davidson, 1139
W. Ninth street,- Davidson ent
ered the service with the Na
tional Guard in September, 1940.
Prior to that, he was employed
as a meat cutter at the Riverside
Market. Davidson holds the air
medal with six oak leaf clusters
and the Asiatic-Pacific service
medal with three bronze stars,
and notice of the award of the
distinguished flying cross has
just been received. He plans to
enter Oregon State college this
fall. A brother, Pvt. John I.
Davidson is now en route over
