QUOTAS SET
(T9
Washington, June 21 U.R)
The War Production Board to
day authorized the manufacture
of 601,018 passenger automobiles
in the next nine months. It as
signed quotas for this period to
each of the 10 automobile com
panies. General Motors Corp. received
the highest quota. It was author
ized to make 05,096 cars between
.July 1 and December 31, and
190,192 cars during the first
three months of 1046.
Other company-by-company
production ceilings, for each of
the two production periods the
last six months of 1045 and the
first three months of 1946 are:
Chrysler 40,635 and 90,270.
Ford 30,910 and 70,820.
Studebaker 9,275 and 18,550.
Hudson 8,000 and 13,602.
Packard 8,000 and 12,118.
, Nash 8,000 and 11,550.
Willys-Overland 8,000, and
8,000.
Graham-Paige 8,000 and 8,
000. Crosley 8,000 and 8,000.
WPB decided that 8,000 should
be the minimum authorization
for any company for each period.
The total production author
ized for the last six months of
1945 was 241,016 cars, and 449,
102 for the first quarter of 1946.
This amounted to almost 100,
000 more cars than was original
ly estimated for the first nine
months' authorization.
WPB pointed out that the over
all celling on passenger car pro
duction is limited by the amount
of steel that will be available
without priority ratings.
