In the only other major league
game yesterday, the White Sox
beat the league leading Tigers
at Chicago in the American
league for the third straight
time, 1 to 0, Indicating that
Hank Grcenberg can't get back
into action too soon to stimulate
the anemic Detroit hitting. The
Tigers made only four blows off
Bill Dietrich who hooked up
against Paul (Dizzy) Trout in a
scoreless duel until the ninth.
Then the White Sox laid down
a bung-barrage which produced
the victory.
No other major league games
were scheduled.

CRATER LAKE MOTORS
By United Press)
The Portland Beavers play
host to the hard-hitting but
erratic Sacramento Solons this
week, with the odds good they
will increase their present ii
game lead in the Pacific Coast
league to a mid-season advant
age that will be hard to over
come.
The Beavers, billed at the;
start of the season as potential
sluggers, have turned up a
mound corps with a distinct pro
fessional flavor. Unless the!
Solons can get the range on!
such veteran hurlers as Adi
Liska, Roy Helser, Jack Tisingj
and Jake Mooty, Manager Earl
Sheeley may have to decide on
a permanent berth in the second
division.
San Francisco and Hollywood
play a split series this week that
may shape up a bit better than
the usual first division team ver
sus cellar dweller contests.
After a disastrous start the
Twinks, now under Manager
Buck Fawsett, have been playing
better than .500 baseball for the
past several weeks.
In other games this week the
