AMINO ACIDS
Much has been said about cal
ories, minerals and vitamins, but
very little attention has been
given to amino acids. These are
not only Important but essential
for good nutrition, resulting in
life, growth, and repair. There
are nearly twenty amino acids
required in the diet for proper
nutrition. Most of the amino
acids must be obtained from the
diet, while a few may be made
in the body from more complex
amino acids. These are not acids
In the popular sense. Some of
them are in reality alkaline in
effect on the blood and body tis
sues. The amino acids are so es
sential in our body chemistry
that we cannot maintain our
physical organism in a state of
perfect health without them.
