iting his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Earley, Sr., at the Holland
Hotel. He will report next to
Ft. Georg Wright, Spokane, for
duty there. The sergeant served
an extended period in England
before being returned to this
country a few months ago.

el service. Willis, who is making
his eighth annual trip through
here, predicts a great travel

Reynolds Evacuated Lee
Reynolds, who was wounded in
the Pacific theater of operations,
has been evacuated from The
Netherlands East Indies, to Mo
Caw General Hospital at Walla
Walla, Wash., according to word
received by his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. C. R. Reynolds, 36 North
Peach street. Another son, Bob,
is now on Okinawa.
Stephenson Leaves Orville
N. Stephenson, Sic, has reported
at Oakland, Calif., after r 14
day isit with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Vern F. Stephenson
and other relatives of Butte
Falls. Stephenson, in the south
west Pacific for seven months,
wears four -bronze battle stars.
Mrs Raymond Tungate and baby
daughter of Milwaukie, Ore.,
were in Butte Falls to visit the
young man, who is Mrs. Tun
gate's brother.

McVeigh, 512 South Holly, left
last night for Klamath Falls to
visit her sons who are attending
St. Mary's Academy there. The
boys, Richard and Ray, will re
turn with Mrs. McVeigh to
spend the summer here.
To Hold CHnie A clinic for
children living in. the Washing
ton school district will be held
Thursday at 1 p.m. at the school,
Miss Olive Curry, school health
nurse, said today. Children in
that district who expect to begin
school for the first time next
September are eligible, she said.
Sister Sought Mrs. Rose
Ludwlg, Vanport City, tele
graphed Ashland police today to
be on the lookout for her sister.
Mrs. Cornelia Berry, who is driv
ing a green Ford coupe bearing
a Washington license. The mes
sage said it is' important that
Mrs. Ludwig contact her sister
at once. The message was turned
over to state police.
In Medford T-Sgt. and Mrs.
Gene W. Tedrick arrived in
Medford Friday evening from
Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas and
are visiting his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. C. C. Tedrick, Rt. 4. Sgt.
Tedrick is stationed with the
infantry at Ft. Leavenworth and
recently returned from 10
months overseas in the European
theater. The couple will be in
Medford for two weeks. ,

Chapter To Meet Rogue Val
ley Chapter No. 147, Military

Runyard Home D. A. Run
yard, CEM, is in the valley on a
12-day leave visiting his mother
near Gold Hill. Runyard is sta
tioned with the coast guard at
Seattle after completing 12
months service in Alaska. His
wife and son reside in Seattle.
Aerie to Meet Medford lodge
No. 2003 F.O.E. and auxiliary
will meet tomorrow at the hall,
217 West Main street. There will
be initiation, plans completed
for a special meeting May 27
and the committee for returning
servicemen will report. A dance
will follow the two meetings.

Nlcols Island, Calif., after a
Mother's Day visit here with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lud
wig, 511 Austin street. Ludwig
has two brothers in the sen-ice,
Ernst, Qmlc with the navy am
phibious forces and now in Ma
nila and Ensign Wallace Lud
wig, also with the amphibious
forces and currently stationed
near Borneo.

left last night by train for But
ternut, Mich., after a month's
stay in Medford. . While here
Mrs. Hall sold her home to Geo.

tor. Mrs. Hall's husband, with
the Seabees in the Pacific area

member of the local National

ported killed in action April 10
with the First army in Germany,
according to word received by
his wife, Mrs. Verna M. Speaker,
613 North Bartlett street, last
week. His parents reside at San
Dimas, Calif.
The deceased was born Sept.
6, 1916, in Puyallup, Wash. He
attended Medford schools and
worked for the Medford Cor
poration in 1041 and 1942. He
entered the army In November,
1942, trained at Ft. Lewis, Wash.,
and went overseas in March,
1944.
Besides his wife and parents.
Speaker is survived by two
brothers, Sgt. Ernie Speaker,
now in the Philippines; and Pfc.
Dorwyn Speaker, in France; two
sisters, Mrs. Lois Denton, with
her parents, and Mrs. Phyllis
Brewer, East Highlands, Calif.

Red Cross Units
Opens Wednesday
A drive for books which will
be sent to Red Cross overseas
libraries will start in Medford
Wednesday by the Medford
branch of 'American Association
of University Women, the presi
dent, Miss Helen Parish, stated
today. The drive will continue
for a week.
Books are to be taken to the
health department on the first
floor of the courthouse from
where they will be stored and
packed for shipment. Mystery
stories, good light novels, biog
raphies and historical works are
among the more desirable types
listed.
It is pointed out that the
health department offices close
at 1 p. m on Saturdays.
