440-yard dash and the broad

Qualifying events for the 100
and 220-yard dashes will be held
tomorrow morning, beginning
at 10:30. There are seven entries
in each hurdle race and if one
can be scratched there will be
no need of running off hurdle
qualifications, Simpson said.
Ribbons To Winners
Medford, host team, will pre
sent ribbons to each person tak
lng any of the first four places
in any event. First and second
place winners in each event will
be eligible for the state track
meet at Corvallis, May 11 and
12.
Simnson said he did not ex
pect any district records to fall
by the wayside tomorrow m
though the 440-yard and 100
yard records may be endan
gered.
Klamath Falls appears to be
the favorites since they have yet
to lose a meet this year and have
a well-balanced squad. Hen
thorne. Pope, Foster and Palmer
have soarked the Pelicans to
three straight victories.
Ashland's Fullerton, Gandee
Tlson, Thompson and White are
expected to place the Grizzlies
well ud in the standings while
Medford will be banking their
hopes on Carter, Bostwick and
Ross.
Rogue River Entry
Junior Dimick, in the sprints
will be a plug for Rogue River
while Clark, state mile cnampion

the district record of 4:37, seems
slower than in his last showing
but still should outclass the field

Salmon fishing in the Rogue
river is three weeks behind
schedule due to the high
water. In the lower river near
Galice, many salmon are re
ported coming upstream which
means that in about two more
weeks salmon fishing from
Savage Rapids dam upstream
will be good
Fish Lake is expected to be
the most popular place this
week-end. The road is open to
all cars and can be made with
out chains. Trolling will be pop
ular but best results will no
doubt be obtained from still fish
ing with worms.
Squaw Lake was extremely
popular last week-end with 43
cars, 27 motor boats and about
250 people there to try their
luck. The road is in excellent
condition. Trout fishing is said
to be only fair because of high
water while catfish can be
caught easily from shore.
Emigrant Lake is reported
i to be good for catfish and
some trout. Hyatt Lake is still
snowbound but will probably
be open next week if the
warm weather continues.
