IN FUNERAL HOME

body erf a 68-year-old man who
died over 20 yean ago wai dis
covered today in an outmoded
wooden casket In the cellar of a
local funeral home.
The discovery wi mad a few
hours after the yellowed, mum
mified body of a woman hnown
only as "Maud" was burled un
mourned and unclaimed in Pot
ter's field.
J. B. Lar-ater, hef of the
bureau of vital statistics, said
the body of Francis Schlatter,
ohemist and lecturer, likewise
would be burled immediately in
Potter's field.
Following a tip, Lasater said
he went to the George L. Pleltsch
funeral home and found the
body. He said an attendant
showed him the records and said
Schlatter was a "faith healer."
Pleltsch refused to discuss the
matter.
It's a olosed story," he said.
Lasater said the body was in
excellent condition. A burial
permit issued at the time showed
the body was to have been
buried in Ohio, he said.
The body of "Maud," which
had lain in an open, wooden
casket m the funeral home of
Aujruet Kron, Jr.. for 40 years,
was discovered earlier this

Prisoners of war in seventh serv
ice command camps are not
getting scarce food products,
MaJ. Gen. C. H. Danlelson said
today.
Hard-to-get food items have
disappeared from the prisoners'
menu, Danlelson said.
Beef, lamb, pork, veal, ham,
bacon, chickens and oysters have
been eliminated from the POW
master menu, Sanielson said,
and have been replaced by cold
cuts, sausage, fish and other low
rationed meat items such as ox
tails, neck bones, tripe, hearts,
livers and kidneys.
Ice cream, butter, canned
fruits and choice condiments
eliminated under the new
plan, Danlelson said. Oleomar
garine will be issued at the rate
of six-tenths a pound per man
per month, while liberal rations
of bread, flour, macaroni and
beans are allowed under the re
vised menu plan, he added.
