The Tokyo domestic radio
said today that 2,100,000 persons
in loicyo had been made dis
aster victims" during the Amer
ican raids on the Japanese cap
ital from March 1 to the middle
of April.
The broadcast, recorded by
FCC, said 510.000 homes had
been destroyed and seven wards
In the industrial section of the
city were "mostly in ruins as the
result of fires."
The broadcast did not explain
what it meant by "disaster vic
tims," but it presumably re
ferred to those killed, injured
and left homeless.
In Osaka during the same
period there were 510,000 "dis
aster victims" and 130,000 homes
destroyed, according to the
broadcast. It added 270,000 per
sons and 60.000 homes in Na
goya and 260.000 persons and
70,000 homes in Kobe suffered
a similar fate.
COAL STRIKE THREAT
SEEN OVER FOR YEAR

The threat of a soft coal strike
this year appeared to have
blown over for good today.
This followed war labor board
approval late yesterday of all
money provisions of the new
soft coal wage contract. The
board estimated the now con
tract would five 310,000 miners
an average raise of $1.02 a day.

burned slightly on the face and
hands April 2 when a Japanese
suicide plane damaged a ship
off Okinawa, it was disclosed
today. Rockefeller, a member of
the 77th Division, was brought
here for treatment.
