Young arrived in Medford by
plane last night after serving
overseas as a torpedo bomber
with the navy. He is visiting his
mother, Mrs. Lena Young, 329
North Riverside avenue, and his
father, Ray Young, 327 North

Recruiter Leaves Sgt. LeOra
Weaver, 20 Ashland avenue,
will leave tonight for Fort Stev
ens., Ore., after being trans
ferred from the WAC recruiting
office in the federal building
here to the communications de
partment at Fort Stevens. Sgt.
Weaver has been stationed here
since last September. It was an
nounced today by Lt. Aida In
graham, local WAC recruiting
officer, that the office here will
be closed around April 25.

Arrives In Europe Pvt. Reed
Cox, army paratrooper, has ar
rived in Germany for service
with the allied troops, informa
tion received by his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. E. Cox, 336 Mae
street, states. Pvt. Cox's wife
and small daughter are in Med
ford to visit with the soldier's
parents. A brother of Pvt. Cox,
Pvt. W. M. Cox, was recently
killed in action on Iwo Jima
and memorial services for him
were held in the First Christian
church here.

Humphries Here Sgt. J. S.
Humphries is in Medford to
spend a 45-day furlough with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Hum-
phrlei, 322 East Twelfth street.
He is a member of the 351st air
service squadron of the 15th
AAF and has served in England,
North Africa and Italy for the
past 32 months. Sgt. Humphries
will return to Italy In June to
resume his duties as a supply
sergeant. He is a graduate of
Medford high school with the
class of 1939.

Stocks opened and closed on a
note of irregularity. A rally
sandwiched between these pe
riods lifted all average and sent
the utility average to new high
since July 31, 1937.
When opening Irregularity
failed to bring in new seling, the
list rose easily but the recovery
lacked support of volume and
when wekend evening-up op
erations developed late In the
day the market was unable to
absorb gelling. Prices drifted
down from the best levels of the
day, and many leaders finished at
losses.
Leading railroad stocks fur
nished a relatively large vol
ume. '
