Now, I believe less than one in
ten of the people in the entire
North American continent have
good nutrition. The other nine

adults, mature adults and elders
uffer more or less from malnu
trition. Believing this, I harp
a good deal on the calcium
shortage, for one thing, and a
good deal more on everybody's
vitamin needs.

soon for overseas. Harold has

birthday party Tuesday. Hall

orated and the party was well

Mrs. George Hayes has been

The annual spring revue by
the music department of the
school, under direction of Harry
L. Meyers, presented Friday
evening In the gymnasium was
well attended. Several numbers
were given by the orchestra, the
band and the girls' chorus. A
style show was put on by the
homemaking department, acro
batic stunts by the physical edu
cation class and a musical com
edy "added much to the program.

merely tolerated by the public school
authorities. I doubt It is so much a
lack of nctlve Interest on the part of
the physical education Instructor as It
Is ignorance on the part of the pub
lie school authorities, the principal,
the board of education, the teachers
in other departments, and apathy on
the part of parents and even phy
sicians who so often conspire to help
the pupil evade physical education

Heavy Assaults by RAF.

Hannover, April 18 (De
layed) Hannover's war fac
tories It was revealed today,
turned out tanks and guns up
to a few days before the city's
capture, despite Royal Air
Force incendiary raids which
had made 80 per cent of the
buildings uninhabitable.
Hannover Is the outstanding
example this correspondent has
seen of fire raid technique
Block after block of buildings
have been gutted by RAF night
incendiary attacks. But the war
plants went on working.
British prisoners freed here
who had been brought to Han
nover only last Thursday said
they saw tanks, half-tracks,
tank-destroyers and guns, obvi
ously fresh from the Hannover
war arsenals, rolling through
the streets.
The Hannover commandant
shrugged his shoulders when
asked about the fire raids.
"It blazed a lot and house;
burned down," he said, "but
they didn't kill anyone and the
factories continued production."'
He admitted that production
usually was suspended or cur
tailed by the raids while the
fires were being put out.
Hannover differs from Col
ogne in what the shells of the
buildings remain. But row aft
er row have been burned out.
What the fire bombs did was
to drive the population, now es
timated at 240,000 plus 60,000
slave workers, into cellars, shel
ters and bunkers. Others crowd
ed Into the relatively undam
aged section of the city at the
southwest corner below the
Leine river.
The city commandant said
cases of typhus and scarlet fever
had appeared In the crowded
shelters. The city water supply
was low, encouraging the SDread
of typhus.
The liberated Drisoners In.
eluded at least 35 Americans, in
cluding several captured In the
Ardennes.
Prisoners said the Geimans
recently evacuated 50,000 slave
laborers from the Hannover
area. In one camp ncsr Han
nover almost 1,000 women, po
litical prisoners from Trance
and the low countries were
housed formerly. Only 80 re
mained when our forces arrived

unable to march when the evau
ation was started.
