    AMERICANS SINK
52 ENEMY SHIPS
. Manila, Sunday. April 8 (U.R)
American bombers have sunk or
damaged nine more Japanese
vessels in their fourth consecu
tive day of attacks on Hong
Kong and Japanese supply ship
Ding in the South China Sea, a
communique announced today,
In these four days, 52 enemy
vessels ranging from 10,000-ton
freighter transports to ocean
going barges have been sent to
the bottom or damaged by
bombs.
On the Philippines land fronts
advances were made In east cen
tral Luzon and on Negros island
in the Sisayas, where all seven
major airfields formerly held by
the Japanese now are in Ameri
can hands after a tank-led 30
miles advance to the northern
coastal plain.

Sgt. Rhodes is a member of a
signal company of the 91st In
fantry Division and is well
known here, having spent over
a year at Camp White with the
91st. He served in Italy with
the Fifth Army and suffered a
severe injury last October. He
was returned to this country in
February.
