The treasury will depend heavily
on newspaper publicity and spe
cial advertising by users of
newspaper space to put over the
$14,000,000,000 seventh war
loan, Ted R. Gamble, director of
the treasury's war finance di
vision, said today.
Predicting that Individual in
come will be higher during the
seventh war loan than durng any
previous drive period, Gamble
called on individual!, to sub
scribe $7,000,000,COO, or half the
campaign's quota. In the sixth
war loan the individual quota

owners, the net profits averaged just $277.18 per stockholder.
Even this sum wasn't all paid out in dividends. $4,266,724 of th
net profit were plowed back into the business.

New York financial advertisers,
"is the highest such figure of any
drive and is $1,500,000,000
more than G bond quota In the
sixth."
He disclosed that from May 1,
1941, to January 1, 1045, in
dividuals had bought $42,000,
000,000 in government securities
and in the same period had re
deemed less than 13 per cent of
these obligations. The treasury
in that period sold to all types of
investors some $177,000,000,000
in securities.

lishers association reported to
day that daily and Sunday pa
pers published 1,555,043 in
dividual advertisements valued
at $49,520,008 in support of war
projects during 1944.
The report was made" In "De
mocracy's Indespensable Home
front weapon," a booklet pub
lished by the A. N. P. A.'s bu
reau of advertising. The adver
tisements aggregated the equiv
alent of 116,111 standard-size
full pages enough to fill a 24
page paper with nothing but
war-theme advertising every day
for. 18 years. The advertising
does not Include any space given
the war effort in weekly papers.
