I hope what I have said here
about the relation of excessive
consumption of refined carbohy
drate to acne will not be inter
preted as a ban against a rea
sonable amount of candy, sweets,
ice cream, sweetened beverages,
cake, pie, cookies, etc., for the
young ones. Remember, I de
plore only the excessive Intake
of cheat-food puro starch or
sugar without the minerals and
vitamins that grew with it and
were intended by nature for ade
quate nutrition. If the ordinary
everyday diet of the young per
son, yes and the old one, were
made up wholly or even in the
main of natural, undenaturized
foods, probably very little of
these cheat-foods would be de
sired by the average individual.
In fact It is a common exper
ience of people' who for one pur
pose or another follow a restrict
ed diet which Is properly sup
plemented with adequate rations
of vitamins, to discover present
ly that they no longer crave or
want as much cheat-food as they
have been accustomed to taking
