Dr. Bradr for many years
I am 70 now and haven t haa
nythiiig'llke a cold for 30 years
1 eniy excellent health.
Ensign P. G. Nolan, adrift In
the south Atlantic in an open
boat for 39 days, said:
"I was soaking wet every
minute of those 39 days and I
came through In good health.
But it took me lust two days
to catch cold when I got to
New York."
Prof Leonard Hill, noted Eng
lish physiologist and authority
on fresh and air conditioning,
aald:
"It Is ahsurd to put on an
overcoat when going out for a
walk It Is good to go out and
be braced bv feeling cold and
so be Impelled to take vigor
ous exercise."
Dr. Hill meant that to apply to
everybody. I, Brady, urge par-
nts to apply the same science
and common serue to the welfare
of children. When your little
. one Is going out to play, for
health's sake do not burden the
poor kid with more clothing
than the child needs for comfort
A mother says her son Is at
the runabout age and likes to
play out doors. But- leggings
hamner his movements and she
would like definite Instructions
about covering the child's legs
and Insisting that the child put
on a sweater, etc., whenever he
goes out to play. Her own pedis
trlclan agrees with me, she says
but he tells her he simply dares
not force his opinion upon moth
ers. . . .

CHILDREN WEAR
The only Instructions lean
give tills mother or any parent
who wants to do what is best for
a child I have already given. I
repeat, don't put a stitch more
clothing, or cover on the child
In any circumstances than the
child wants I do not say needs
but wants to wear. This advice,
remember. Is health advice.
If physicians dared to tell the
truth, I wonder how many
would be found, in the same boat
with the pediatrician who agrees
with my teachings, but dares not
risk losing the patronage of
some of those parents who like
to turn up their noses at the
ordinary practitioner and drag
their precious pampered young
"uns to a "specialist" every time
the young 'uns get off their feed.
I'm sorry for those kids, too.
