days is Mrs. Earl Wallace, 344

Wallace Is a native of Coblenz
Germany, on which allied troops
are advancing today. With grow
Ing excitement Mrs. Wallace
learned today that Ma). Gen.
Terry Allen, Sr., is- with the
troops on the march to Coblenz.
Twenty-five years ago in April
Mrs. Wallace, then Amalie Koch
of Coblenz; secured the signa
ture of Gen. Allen on papers
which permitted her to come to
this country as the bride of Sgt.
Earl Wallace of Grants Pass, vet
eran of a United States military
unit during the first World War.
Mrs. Wallace's two sisters also
married American soldiers and
eventually came to live jn this
country.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace will
celebrate their silver wedding
anniversary April 3.
This morning Mrs. Wallace
visited the Tribune office on her
way to the Riverside USO for
her work as a volunteer. She is
very proud of the pin which
shows 500 hours spent In this
service to enlisted men serving
her adopted country.

deposit box seems indicated in
the case of William H. Wehrlle,
58, who has 150 packages of cig
arettes from all over the world.
The packages are unopened
and so shall they remain, said
Wehrlle, who amassed them not
for smoking purposes, but as a
hobby.
He owns what is believed to
be the most complete collection
of American brands and several
packs from Mexico, Europe, and
the Orient.
"I collect, but don't smoke,"
Wehrlle declared, explaining tint
he stopped smoking and started
collecting several years ago when
his wife made "slighting" com
ments about his rolling his own,
exhausting can of tobacco
daily.

Fred McAndrew, cafe proprie
tor, has plenty of cigarettes, de
spite the national shortage.
McAnurew's collection is Just
that. It consists of 500 brands
acquired from 33 nations, and
he has been seven years getting
it together.
Farmington servicemen all
over the world, remembering
JTcAndrew's hobby, have sent
him strange packs, including
some taken from dead Japanese
at Tarawa. There is another
which was sent from Germany
to a prisoner of war stationed
near here.
McAndrew, now trying to run
his total to 1,500 kinds of
smokes, will have one bitter re
gret even if he reaches that goal.
He had a custom-made pack for
