One of two sectional meetings
of the Southern Oregon Produc
tion Credit association will be

announced today. Sectional

the, week-end and presented
other legal matters.
A number of divorce cases
were brought before the court
at the Saturday session. The
district attorney's office report

WALLACE EXPECTED TO
GET HIGH CABINET JOB

The political future of Henry A.
Wallace, whose term as vice
president ends five days hence,
remained a mystery today but
best guesses were that he might
serve In a cabinet post during
President Roosevelt's fourth
term.
Speculation that Wallace
would receive a high adminis
tration assignment was height
ened by the disclosure that dur
ing the past week he turned
down several high-salaried job
offers in private industry.

HECTOR 8. CADY
TAKEN BY DEATH
Hector Bangs Cady passed
away at his home, 44 N. Orange
street Saturday evening. Mr,
Cady was born in Missouri on
May 2, 1861.
On May 22, 1920 he was mar
ried to Mrs. Nellie Arnold at
Albany, Oregon. He worked on
the Medford police department
for a number of years. One of
Mr. Cady's favorite pastimes
was working with agates and
various forms of minerals. He
had a large collection of polish-
ed stones and minerals, gathered
during the last few years.
Left to mourn his passing are
his wife Nellie Cady, one son,
Conn Cady, of Long Beach, Cal.
and one daughter, Mrs. Esther
Robinson, Pasadena, Calif., and
three grandchildren. He also
leaves a host of friends in this
community.
Funeral services will be held
at the Cady residence Wednes
day at 2 p.m. Elder G. A. Thomp
son of the Seventh-Day Advent-
1st church will officiate. Inter
ment will be in Medford l.O.O.F.
cemetery. Perl Funeral Home Is
in charge of funeral services.
Youths Fined For
Trying Gaff Fish
Donald B. Dimmlck, 17, and
SamueL D. Evensizer, 16, Rogue
River youths charged with tres
passing on a flshway on Evans
Creek Sunday, entered pleas of
guilty today and were each fined
$25 and costs by Justice of the
Peace W. P. Tucker. The youths
were arrested by State Police
Game Warden Phil B. Lowd in
the vicinity of the fishway, with
gaff hooks in their possession
They had caught no fish. Both
were given until January 27, to
complete payment of their fines.
FEHL TAX ARGUMENT
SET FOR WEDNESDAY
Arguments before the su
preme court at Salem, in the
suit of Jackson county against
Earl H. Fehl, former county
Judge, for collection of back
taxes up to 1938, will be made
Wednesday. The county will be
represented by District Attorney
George W. Neilson, and Fehl by
himself, and Attorney Roy R.
Hewitt of Salem. The action
growing out of tax foreclosure
proceedings has been hanging
fire for five years.
Fehl also recently filed a brief
on his appeal to the supreme
court in his suit for $11,000 he
alleges is due from Jackson
county for salary for the term
to which he was elected as coun
ty Judge, but did not serve.

MONTANA SOLON DIES
AT WASHINGTON HOME

Rep. James F. O'Connor, D.,
Mont., ranking representative
from his state, died at his home
here last night, his office said
today. He was 66 and a resident
of Livingston, Mont.
O Connor was chairman of
the house Indian affairs com
mittee.
O'Connor was born on a farm
near California Junction, la.,
and attended public and normal
schools in that state.

day that the successful Ameri
can campaign in the Philippines
may force the resignation of
Premier Gen. Kuniaki Koiso.
Tokyo broadcasts referring to

the tone of those which preceded
the deposal of his predecessor,
Premier Gen. Hideki Tojo, fol
lowing the American conquest
of the Marianas last summer.
