S. F. Club Holds
Holiday Luncheon
Mrs. Laura Williams enter
tained the S. F. club Tuesday
at a holiday party at her home
on West 11th street. Luncheon
was served at 1 o'clock and was
followed by presentation of
Christmas gifts and games.
Table prizes were won by Mrs.
Lucretia Jordan and Mrs. Ilda
Vickoren and game prizes were
won by ' Mrs. Florence Rose,
Mrs. Viola Tratuman and Mrs.
Vickoren.
Those enjoying the afternoon
were the Mesdames Iva Walden,
Florence Rose, Clara Tilley, Lu
cretia Jordan, Viola Trautman
and Ilda Vickoren, Miss Mattie
Matney and the hostess, Mrs.
Williams.
Past Grands Club
To Install Heads
Past Noble Grands club of
Olive Rebekah lodge will install
officers at a meeting scheduled
for Thursday night at 8 o'clock
at the Girls' Community club.
Revelation of Sister Olives will
also take place during the eve
ning.
Installing officers for the eve
ning will be Myrtle Newton

Pickle. Mary Cave is the new
head of the group and Iva Wal
den is the retiring president.
Veterans' Auxiliary
To Moot Wednesday.
Mrs. S. S. Morgan, 212 South
Orange street, will entertain
members of the Ladies' Auxil
iary to the Veterans of Foreign
Wars at a 1:30 o'clock dessert
luncheon, Wednesday. The af
ternoon will be spent In sewing
and anyone having silk pieces
suitable for quilt making is
asked to bring these.

Captain Sleeter
Returns To City
Capt. Robert W. Sleeter, with
Mrs. Sleeter and their daughter,
arrived In Medford Wednesday
to spend three weeks with the
captain's mother, Mrs. R. W.
Sleeter, 1715 East Main street.
Capt. Sleeter, who formerly
practiced medicine in Medford.
has been In service four and one
half years with the 41st infantry
division and spent 33 months in
the south Pacific. His wife has
been making her home here and
went to California to meet the
captain upon his arrival.
Mrs. Thomas Lewis
Returns to Medford
Mrs. Thomas Lewis, Jr., the
former Ruth Humphries of this
city, arrived in Medford last
Sunday from Buffalo, N. Y., to
be with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. S. S. Humphries. Mrs.
Lewis has been making her
home with her husband's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Lewis, Sr., of Tonawanda, N.
Y. While in the east Mrs. Lewis
was employed as an army in
spector in the Remington-Rand
plant in Buffalo.
Cpl. Thomas Lewis, stationed
at Camp White last spring, is
now serving with the combat en
gineers in Luxembourg. Both
Cpl. and Mrs Lewis have many
friends in the valley.

Flight Lieutenant Here
As Guest of Kayes
Flight Lt. Harold Hoover of
the Royal Canadian air force
left Medford Thursday night for
his station at Abbotsford, B. C,
after spending five days here
with his brother-in-law and sis
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaye,
724 West Second street. The of
ficer, who leturned to Canada
last fall after two and one-half
years in England, is now an in
structor for Liberator bombers
at the Abbotsford air field.
Mrs. Runyard is Guest
Of Medford Friends
Mrs. Don Runyard of Seattle
arrived in Medford Thursday
and Is a guest at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zacharisen
of Beekman street. Mr. and Mrs.
Runyard resided in the valley
until Mr. Runyard's enlistment
in the coastguard and in recent
months have made their home in
Seattle.

Daughters of the Nile, Zu
lelma Temple, will hold the Jan
uary meeting in Medford at the
Masonic building the afternoon
of January 13. A business ses
sion is scheduled for two o'clock
and will be followed by a tea
for which a musical program is

Get-Together Club '
Get-Together club members
elected Gertrude Wagner presi
dent of the club when the group
met for a potluck luncheon Wed
nesday at the Eagles hall. Ethyl
Weed was named vice-president
and Verda Edsall was elected
secretary and treasurer.
The group will hold the usual
monthly card party January 17
at the Eagles hall.
Mrs. Jack Davis Here
To Transact Business
Mrs. Jack Davis, former Med
ford resident, is in the county to
transact business after an ab
sence of more than a year. Mrs.
Davis, whose husband is station
ed on one of the Marlanna
Islands with the navy, will leave
the first of this week for Stock
ton, Calif., where she will make
her home for the duration of the
war. Mr. Davis, storekeeper sec
ond class, left Oct. 29 for over
seas duty.
Mrs. Davis daughter and son-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William
Voss, reside in Stockton and
while in the county Mrs. Davis
is with Mr. and Mrs. Voss, Sr.,
in Gold HM.
Cpl. and Mrs. Court
Return to Washington
Cpl. and Mrs. John Court left
Thursday for' Walla Walla,
Wash., where Cpl. Court is sta
tioned. They spent the holidays
in Medford, visiting Mrs. Court's
mother, Mrs. L. M. Luper, East
Main street, and the corporal's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry J.
Court, 148 South Ivy street. Mrs.
court is the former Ludella
Luper.

Elect Mabel Bennett
Head Past Presidents
Mabel Bennett was re-elected
president of the Past Presidents'
club of the Degree of Honor
lodge during a meeting of the
club at the home of Ida Wilson,
7 Chestnut street, last week.
Mary White was re-elected sec
retary for the coming year. The
evening was spent in games,
with Mrs. Bennett winning a
prize.
Altar Society To Hold
Meeting On Tuesday
The January meeting will be
held by St. Ann's Altar society
Tuesday, with luncheon to be
served at one o'clock at the par
ish house. In charge will be
Unit No. 3, with Mrs. J. P.
Naumes as chairman.
