London Times Urges
U. S. To Take Larger
World Affairs Lead
London. Jan. 4 (U.R) The
Times of London, Joining in a
growing British demand for a
statement on American foreign
policy, appealed to the United
States today to declare the meth
ods by which they will take a
bolder and more active lead" in
world affairs.
Denouncing current interna
tional misunderstandings as "a
vicious circle," the Times urged
congress to clarify Its intentions
and allay international doubts
whether the United States will
piny a major role In world af

"Nothing could do more to aid
the framing of constructive
policies for the future than a
clearer Indication of the forms in
which the United States envis
ages Its share of responsibility
for the establishment and main
tenance of international peace
and security," the Times said.
