Miss Joan Stoehr
Married Wednesday
To San Franciscan
Largest wedding of the holt
day season here was that of Miss
Joan Stoehr to E. Cordell Eu-
banks of San Francisco which
took place Wednesday, Decem
ber 27, at 8 o'clock in the eve
ning at St. Mark's Episcopal
church. The service was read by
the Rev. George R. Turney, reo
tor. Arrangements of white chrys
anthemums and candelabra with
lighted tapers decorated St.
Mark's church with the excep
tion of the altar which was ar
ranged with the , traditional
Christmas flowers and greenery.
Preceding the ceremony a pro
gram of bridal music and the
wedding march was played by
Mrs. Ernest Conrad.
Miss Stoehr's wedding gown
was of white satin fashioned
with a bodice of French lace and
a long train. Her net veil, which
fell from a coronet headdress of
orange blossoms, was full length
and edged with lace. The nriaai
bouquet was of gardenias and
white chrysanthemums.
The bride was given In mar
riage by her brother-in-law; C.
T. Steward.
Attendants for the bride were
Mrs. Al. Stoehr, a sister-in-law,
who was matron-of-honor, and
Miss Patricia Thompson and
Miss Patricia Farrell, brides
maids. Mrs. Stoehr's gown was
of aqua net and lace while the
bridesmaids wore matching
gowns of net with very full
skirts, Miss Thompson's gown
being pastel blue and Miss Far
rell's dress of pastel pink. All
three carried bouquets of pastel
chrysanthemums, of shades to
match the gowns, and wore
small hats fashioned from the
same material as the dresses.
Clatous McCredle was best
man for the groom and ushers
were Clyde Webb and A. O. Tol
lefson. .
Mrs. C. T. Steward, sister of
the bride, was gowned In a crepe
dress of powder blue worn with
a feathered pastel pink bat and
pink gloves. Her flowers were
pink carnations.
The reception was held at the
Steward home,-' -1 Eastwood
Drive, tor 150 guests. The tiered
wedding caka was served from
a table decorated with whlto
chrysanthemums and tapers. Mr.
and Mrs. Eubanks out the first
slice after which Mrs. Lewis Ul-

Wayne Dickerson presided at the
punch bowl and assisting were
the Misses Rosalie Roberts, Ca
lista Farrell and Anne Durno.

charged from the navy and Is
now a civil service employee of
the federal government in San

Pearson to Egt. Randy Hugdahl
was announced by Miss Pear
son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Pearson,' 118 Clark street, at a
dinner for the family and a few
close friends given Christmas
Day at the horn of Mr. and
Mrs. E. D. Scripter, 60 Rose
avenue. Sgt. Hugdahl is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stuart of
Milwaukee, Wise.
News of the engagement, con'
cealed. in - individual holly fa
vors, -was . revealed during the
serving of the dessert course.
The bride-elect received her
ring in a corsage of red rose
buds sent by her fiance.
Miss Pearson, a graduate of
Medford senior high school with
the class of 1844, is a bookkeep
er at th Medford Fuel com
pany. .
No date has been set for the
wedding as Sgt, Hugdahl is
serving with the 91st Infantry
Division in Italy.
Thursday evening Mrs. Rob
ert Davis, Miss Pearson's sister,
entertained at a blrthy party in
her honor, the affair being at
the Pearson home. Games were
played and one, in the form of
a puzzle, made a second an
nouncement of the betrothal
news. Refreshments, including
a birthday cake, were served by
Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Pearson.

Held At Outpost
Is Happy Affair

The Christmas eve party at
The Outpost on Sunday proved
a most satisfactory and happy
evening for the 70 officers and
wives and friends who attended.
The traditional - "old English
egg-nog" was served at 6 o'clock
with Lt. and Mrs. Dallas Greer
at the punch bowl. A full course
turkey dinner was then served,
followed by a delightful mu
sical program, arranged by Mrs.
Roberta Ward Bebb.
Mrs. Dorothy Gore Davis,
guest violinist, accompanied by
Miss Alice Holmback played
several pleasing numbers. Phyl
lis Furry, talented young pian
ist, played two Chopin numbers
and a modernistic encore..
June Williams, gifted young
soprano, gave a, sympathetic
rendition of Luzzl's "Ave Maria"
and the Christmas song; "Can
tlqu de Noel," Mrs. Bebb was
her accompanist and also played
for ' th singing of Christmas
carols, by all present. Mrs. Da
vis also accompanied the carols
on her violin.
Mis. Margaret Ruth Bolton,
popular hostess, played a piano
transcription of "C h r I s t m a s
Chimes."

Th highlight of th evening
was the singing of tha beauti
fully selected numbers by the
"HlKh School Carolers." who

camp hospital and at many
homes in town. This group in
eluded June Williams, Barbara
Morrow, Audrey Jarmin, Mary
Lou Swoape, Gerald Pence, Clif
ford Pence and Carl Wlnkle-
bleck.
At th conclusion of the eve
ning's entertainment a lare
btoud of the officers, wives and
friends attended the special
Christmas eve services at St.
Mark's Episcopal church.

place Wednesday evening of last
week at St. Mark's Episcopal
church.

and Mrs. Arvella Garblener. Mrs.
Oilman invited to her home on
Route 2 a group of registered
nurses who have been associated
with Miss Stoehr in the Gradu
ate Nurses association of this dis
trict. Refreshments were served

cluding an unusual cake made
in the semblance of a bride. Mrs.

as a benefit for the scholarship
loan fund. The affair is at the

Is Large Affair
Social highlight of the past
week for the city'i younger set
was the traditional queen's ball
given Tuesday night by mem
bers of Medford Bethel, Daugh
ters of Job. The ball honored
the retiring queen, Miss Ann
Conroy, and was given by a
committee headed by Miss
Nancy Swem, newly installed
queen of the bethel.
Lincoln school gymnasium,
where the dance was held, was
decorated in a starlight motif
and music was furnished by
Barney Beaton's band. Coming
during the holiday season when
many college students and serv
Icemen and women were in the
city, the ball attracted a large
number of members and friends
of the bethel and proved to be
one of the most enjoyable af
fairs of the winter for the young
people.'
During the Intermission hon
ored Queen Nancy presented a
queen's jewel to the retiring
queen, Miss Conroy. The new
queen is the daughter of Mr
and Mrs. Jack Swem and Miss

per was served and the evening

A quartet of accordion pupils
of Mrs. Eve Prentice entertain
ed with a variety, of numbers
during the evening and were
enthusiastically applauded by

52nd Anniversary
Friday Evening
In observance of their 82nd
wedding anniversary, Mr. and
Mrs. H. E. Armstrong entertain
ed at a small dinner party at the
Holland Hotel Friday night. The
Armstrongs have resided in Med
ford and the valley for th past
25 years and at present are
making their home at 308 North
Ivy street.
Guests for the dinner were
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Roach,
Mr. and Mrs. G. Q. D'Albini and
Mrs, Paul Jennings. Mr. Jen
ntngs was unable to attend since
he is on active duty with the
army. Both the D' Albinis and
Jennings also celebrated wed
ding anniversaries last week.

tive floral arrangement.
The Armstrongs have two
grandsons, Bill and Ralph Paul
Frazler, and -one great-granddaughter,

Climax Holidays
For Valley People
Climaxing the holidays will
be a number of dances, dinners
and open house parties. These
gala affairs are being planned
for homes, officers' clubs, serv
icemen's recreation centers and
lodge rooms and are making up
the social calendar for the en
tire week end.
Last evening the traditional
New Year eve party was held
at the Elks temple, the affair
having been set up one day be
cause of the holiday falling on
Sunday. The annual Eagles and
auxiliary party will be tonight
at the hall, starting at 8:30
o'clock, and is for members and
house guests.
Last night Dr. , and Mrs.
Charles W. Lemery and Mr. and
Mrs. M. N. Hogan entertained
at dinner and bridge for a group
of mutual friends, the affair be
ing at the Lemery home on
South Windsor avenue.
Many Medford families tra
ditionally hold "open house" on
New Year's day. Among those
entertaining this year are Mr.
and Mrs. H. H. Pringle, Dr. and
Mrs. B. L. Lageson and Mr. and
Mrs. Robert K. Norris. The lat
ter two couples will be hosts to
morrow at the Norris home,
1900 Hillcrest road, between the
hours of 3 and 8 o'clock.
The Colony club is holding
open house New Year's day be
tween 1:30 and 5 p. m. for mem
bers and guests.
Another affair Is that which
will be held this evening at the
officers' club at Camp .White.
The event is a formal supper
party at 7:30 o'clock, with
games and other entertainment
planned tor the remainder of
the evening. Officers and their
wives also enjoyed a Christmas
party which was given at the
officers club the evening of
Dee. 23.
